I took some photos from JL Instagram:

The crosszips
The M500 which I have is the basic model, the cop version would have the badge holder, civilian version has the big chest zip pocket. Then options can be added on, like padding, different pockets, different collars...etc.

The M500 in size 40 measures:
Shoulder 18.5" (front) 19.5" (back)
P2P 23"
Hem 20.5"
Sleeves 26"
Back 25" (Although both mine are 24", I think it's difference in measuring methods)

I think the WWL-41 is the slim cut version of the M-500, so size 42 = size 40 M500. M500 is generous cut. But can be tighten with the laces. I gain a pant size over the winter months so I went with the M500 and laces. It really is the most comfy one I've got.

The Cafe Racers:
I got no clue. There is a M200 and a N200. All the M200 I have seen have dress collars, so I assume that's the difference. I went with @Psant25 old threads. And I got a 42 M200 coming.

The Truckers:
There is a slim cut one and a regular cut one. I put the sizes Damon gave me on the photo. I went with a regular cut 44 but custom hem size. Don't know how it will turn out, will post when it gets here.

JL has access to Horween CXL and others. And I think that is their best upgrade option over the standard cowhide. To me it's like getting a better fitting Horween Aero that's made in San Francisco for the price of a SB jacket.

I had made 4-5 m200 variants in size 42. Stock length is like 23.5 collar seam down. Front is straight cut to 1/2 inch drop. Shoulders are wide i think 19.5 plus and neck hole is large. I am 175 lbs 5 ft 11 in 40 chest wear a 42 suit usually. I like a 23 ish pit. I narrow shoulders, add body length, plus or minus sleeve taper. Sleeves are pretty long being an mc jacket. If u narrow 1 inch sh total that is 1/2 inch each side i would not add sleeve length but im not super tall. Also, @navetsea had recommended making the neck opening smaller. I did that on my most recent jacket from them and would continue to do so for an m200 too. @MrProper

edit: i think i sold em all here or listed here and should have specs i can tell ya for that model what i had changed from stock or damon can check if you send him a pic of my jacket should have in my file. Brad from green bay.

I looked for your ads in Classifieds.
Beautiful jackets, the M200. They are also available as M200L.
Let's see.
Naked cow doesn't look bad to me in the pictures. What did you think of it?
How did you end up selling so many of them? Were they not good?

Size 42 should be a good base for me. Except for the length, the measurements are good for a tight fit.

I liked the naked cow very much. As for selling the lot I made a new tweak for each jacket I think trying to find the perfect fit. Length, sleeve taper, neck hole, shoulder width, etc and I am still searching lol. Just about emailed JL this am about another m200. Pretty sure I would do the following to a stock m200 black or brown standard cow size 42:
-narrow sleeve cuff 1 inch (slight taper from biceps down)
-add one inch body length
-bring in shoulders 1 inch total
-no added sleeve length
-slightly smaller neck hole

….or just try a stock 40…

i would clarify as well on your order the front drop. I noticed 1-2 had straight cut front and some had 1/2 to 3/4 front drop in the front

It doesn't seem to have much of a top coat on it, maybe a waterproofing agent? Haven't tried it under the rain yet

Actually, I did ask them about it and Alan said it was in fact a finished Bison with a distressed effect applied. I'l confirm again to make sure but if so, I think I've found the next leather I'll use. I will have it skived to 3oz most likely.

Which colour do you have in mind?

Aha, turns out I already had a sample of that bison from some months back, but I ended up not going with it as when I did a water test it had quite a bit of color transfer, likely because it's a veg tan. A shame as that grey color is absolutely awesome... however, I may have found some suitable alternatives that I can supply.

How do your jackets fit ON the bike. I am sweating over 1/2" on the front length. If the jacket is too long, the front material has nowhere to go but up. When standing, the jacket ends at the top of my beltline. Most of my belt is showing. I am going with a m500 series.
Yeah it is a compromise. My columbia is about perfect. Just covers the belt and on the bike it works well. All the m200 worked well on the bike they have about 23.5 inch back length and straight front. Casual wear id add some. Without a thick band like on the chp styles the m200 may curl up a little but no big deal. Could always stop the zipper at the bottom higher up if u add some length

@roadking04 My JL M500 is an inch shorter (in the front) than my other cross zips. That's why I like it. With the longer fronts (cross or straight zip) I would always curl the hem in or out depending on how they like to go to avoid the front riding up. This results in more creases in my stomach area. A two way zip could help, I wonder why I didn't think about this before.

I like my jackets longer since I never tuck my shirt in, and don't like revealing my belly button when I lift my hands up, or plumber's crack when I bend over to tie my shoes. I think that's why I gravitate towards button jackets since I can just button the two middle buttons and can move/sit freely. This upcoming jacket I specced a two way zipper for this reason.

Just updating the thread on the black Masaye HH jacket. The jacket remains a favorite and very easy to wear on a daily. It's very dense and there is barely any give to it or any apparent change in measurement in the torso (even my full aniline shinki and black teacore shinki jacket stretched about 0.5" in the chest after i breaked it in while my CXL jackets stretched to almost 0.75").

It also still has that sweet smell after 10 months of receiving the jacket. The creases and folds seems to be deeper and more pronounced. JL added the curved band on the back panel after it shrank so I can wear it again without my belt showing. Still love the leather and its one of those I don't mind repeat ordering a jacket out of. I will eventually bring it back to JL to exchange the main zip for a bigger M8 Riri (maybe it will lessen the wavy zipper look) and exchange the chest pull with an O ring so it dangles.

@Jin431

That’s the jacket that started this Johnson craze for me. Looking sharp! I like the new bottom hem band. It looks as if that was the original design.

Did JL apply a topcoat to the leather at their shop? This is the German BLATTWERK olive leaf tanning right? Quality stuff. Now I got some new ideas.

I can attest that the Masaye leather is super supple, almost lambskin like in terms of drape and softness, but is horsehide so it retains alot of the character and look.

Sometimes I still think I should have something made in that leather, lol.

thanks man, JL did well with making it look part of the original design. although the offer to remake the jacket was also given to me, I felt the jacket already moulded to me well that it would be a shame to get a new one made.

yes JL did apply something on the surface for an added gloss, the reduced sheen on the upper back and right outer sleeve has certainly been noticeable in my eyes. It could very well be blattwerk (I asked which tannery it came out of but never did get a specific answer) or maybe a tannery down the street that uses the same technique. It's good stuff and I feel it's perfect for a mild or moderate climate.

Supple is indeed the appropriate word to describe the leather. love how it wears and yep I hear you there lol it's really something that can be worn as a 3 season jacket where we are if used on the right pattern

That's what I suspected about Masaye. That it is actually Blattwerk Horse from Germany. It comes in untreated all natural form, and the tannery insists on no top coat, keeping it all natural. But I think it looks better with another coating like yours. I got a Blattwerk jacket from SB sale page at a steal but its a test pattern that doesn't fit, but lots of large panels of leather. I plan on re purposing that into a Johnson two tone "Masaye" Peters down the road. Good stuff.
