I have been harping on how great a hot/wet weather hat this is, and it's on sale for 2 days until Wed. Aug 5th at midnight - marked down from $69 to $38.40! I just ordered one for a friend who had us up for the weekend and was wearing a truly disreputable ball cap - he will look great on his tractor in a Joe:

If you've been considering a poly straw, this is the best of my 3 poly hats for hiking, kayaking, yard work, etc. Not as refined as an Akubra Capricorn, but a lot cooler and with a coolmax sweatband it can be washed in a big tub of soapy water or dipped in the river during a hot day canoeing. I highly recommend it.

Other stuff is on sale as well, including a couple of new Tilley raffia hats that look pretty nice. No commercial tie-in for me, just a satisfied customer of Noggintops.

Cheers, Carl

Hey, I've been thinking about one of those, due to the very rainy summer we've been having (I'm wearing felt at least once a week - unheard of for me in the summer).

Anyone know if the chin strap is removable?

Yep, but just once with scissors ;)

Seriously, though, I've left my chin strap on for use boating, but continually consider cutting it off and re-wrapping around the crown trolley-style, but haven't done it yet.

I almost never use the strap - the cam buckle on the nylon hatband can be tightened on windy days to keep the hat in place. Also, mine is a little small on me (I really need an xxl), so it is pretty firmly 'on'. Note that the material is somewhat stretchy overall.

Ordered this morning!
Its soo good that I waited with ordering one, so I can get it a lot cheaper now

Hope you like it as much as I do. BTW, I just washed mine last night - put it in a basin of warm water with dish soap and scrubbed it with a vegetable brush. A quick rinse and it dried in an hour or so, now it looks brand new....

Now Carldelo...when and if I get one of these poly lids...which kind of vegetable brush should I use?:p lol

Let's say potato, although I emphasize that this implies nothing about your head or mine [bad]

So C-J, as I remember you kayak on occasion, the clock is ticking for a low, low price on high-style, water wear.....

We're definitely talking about my potato head...I'm just worried that the XL will be a tight fit...many are very tight...though it would probably fit well till the hair comes back...AND...I'll have to wait till Friday anyway....[huh] So we'll see if the sale is still on or maybe they'll drop the price of the Riverz hats...:D

How's the Large and Medium in these? Anybody know? I wear a 7 and 1/4 ideally and a 7 3/8 in a pinch.
