What'a ya gotta take this stuff so personal for. So you don't agree, give me something other than calling me a name. The America my father was on Omaha beach for and I joined the Marines for is one of tolerance and freedom. That includes conservatives, liberals, libertarians and others. Isn't that what America is really all about? Just because I don't think like you or might not be aligned in the same political direction that you are, you're saying that I'm not an American? Or the men I served with thought less of me because I'm liberal? Well let me give you a history lesson. In the Corp I served in a persons political beliefs were something we all would fight to our deaths to protect. Even ones that weren't in line with our own. In the 1970s conservative were probably in the minority in the Corps. This is what has me a little concerned about our future as a country. People are not focused on some of the real problems but instead when someone disagrees the are called names. Also its been conservatives thru out history that have tried to kill the Corps. They almost succeeded in the late 1800s.
I know friends that were waist deep in rice paddy's while this guy because of wealth and privilege wasn't. If he were a liberal I'd have the same opinion. My point was don't put him on the same page as real heroes. He's done nothing in his life to put him in that company. Thanks Dusty for your service. I'll buy the first round. :cheers1:

I agree with you. The fact that there are so many different views and opinions in this country and that I, as a man born in another country, had the priviledge of serving in the U.S. military to make sure those views and opinions were never muted, speaks loudly about what an incredible country this is. The different views and opinions is what makes this such a great place to live. What I am confused about is the reference to Dusty. Who is Dusty? Did I miss an interesting thread somewhere?

Bebop, it was deleted. There was a photo of George Bush put on this page with a Marine thats a true hero and I took exception to the fact he was posted there. It was suppose to be about this Marine and other service men and women who are real heros not about the President. Dusty be-littled my service because I might have a different political opinion.

Bob, I think that they peace corps and teachers are like cops military firefighters in one way that they are under paid and do it for the most part because they love their jobs and believe in what they are doing. They do it because they want to make a difference and not eveyone is meant to be a Marine tahnk God,

The thing that most people don't get about Marines though we are on opposite sides on allot things if it comes down to it I'll fly into hell for another Marine. That includes grunts...You can bet your life on it!!

While I don't question your sincerity at all, brother...

I think teachers, and it's mostly HS and college professors that I'm talking about, should just teach, and not use their position as a Bully Pulpit for their agendas. OK don't allow prayer in school, my kids know how to pray, but don't force your hedonistic ideals down the throat of my kids just because society believes that you need a parchment to prove you're worthy of getting a good job. College is the worse place for a young Christian these days. I thank God that my soon to be college bound daughter is more grounded in Christianity than I am. Some less fortunate young people will go to college and learn all sorts of dreadful things. And it's not just drugs and sex that I worry about. Islamic studies, Gay and Lesbian courses, yada yada, and so on. Get a course guide from any Liberal Arts college or university and go through the list yourself and I hope you're as disgusted as I am.

Oh yeah, the Peace Corps...I know of an area in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and W. Virginia that could use a couple wells drilled and some good medical care, maybe teach some US citizens to read and write while their at it.

As always, Sempre Fi...

Bob while I don't disagree with some of what you say, prayer in school is a non issue to me, No big deal we all believe in some kinda except for my senior drill instructor that said if there was a God there wouldn't have been Vietnam.

The one education system we have thats considered the BEST in the world is our colleges and universities. Politics shouldn't be taught there in any form except in political classes. The problems in our high schools and grade schools are not always the fault of teachers. The break down in families is not teachers faults. The worst thing that could happen when I was a kid was the teacher call my house. It was always my fault; never the teachers. I don't think theres allot of that now. My dad would take the possition if it wasn't my fault why is the phone ringing. Teachers don't call him just to B.S.

I don't disagree, inasmuch as it's not the teacher's fault in grade school...sort of. It's parents who defend there kids when their kids are wrong. My kids are there to learn, not be subjected to someone's ideals or issues. My daughter has a social studies teacher that is a vocal and militant lesbian, who is also anti anything to do with Judeo-Christian morals and beliefs. She informed her class that the Holy Bible is just a bunch of fairy tails and legends, not to be believed. I exploded, I had to be put back together. When I calmed, I contacted the Superintendant. Nothing was done. As far as I know the teacher was not even repremanded. But woe be to the teacher that mentions Jesus Christ.

College Professors are the same. My wife is taking some classes at a local college. Her teachers make lewd sexual refferences, use the Lord's name in vain, curse and use profanity in class. The professor just sneers at her when she tels him that she is offended by that language. She's shunned by her classmates like some kind of pariah. It's all a big joke...I tell her to just get through it and get her paper...

I went to a university for awhile It was all about binge drinking and how many times you could get some in a week. Learning was not even a consideration. I did not study for Jack, and guess what? I passed just for showing up sometimes. Go figure. So talk about higher learning all you want...

Yeah, MK...

I guess you could say odd....I prefer the word 'peculiar' myself, I aslo like 'strange' and 'weird'.

Froggy started this thread when Dusty and he got into it over on another thread. Zohar stepped in and spanked Dusty, and Dusty's post was deleted.

I'm not sure what this thread is about either.. but might I add... There are private schools that teach exactly what you want to hear. Perhaps they would be a better choice for your beliefs.

What is the point of this thread? Does it really have a topic or is this just an argument berween Bob and airfrogusmc that was everything being thrown into it including the kitchen sink and the price of tea in China?

I will probably close this thread down soon. There is no real topic here.

Let's call the topic (some) 'Teachers and their hidden agendas.'

Public school teachers shouldn't be teaching anyones beliefs. I'm already paying for school, why should I put them in private school and pay twice? Teachers should keep their mouths shut when it comes to politics, religion and sexual preference. My daughter is probably going to Dallas Baptist University so I'm not really worried about her college that much. I just want her to get through HS. I have two kids behind her.

This thread started as a reposted response to something that Dusty posted in the other thread. I certainly didn't "spank" Dusty, since his post was one of about 6 that I deleted. I basically took out everybody's posts on that other thread out of respect for whom the thread was regarding.

We will delete a post if it does not follow the rules that MK has set up here:
