Jaxon derby as a fedora...?

Okay fellas, I've been eyeing this Jaxon for a while now while searching for a suitable open-crown model. It's not a fedora, but a derby - but since it is a modern derby I thought maybe it would be more suitable for a conversion. The modern felt should be much more easy to work with...and at that price there's really not much to lose. Not to mention, I would love to add another Jaxon to my collection.

I understand that the homburg/derby to fedora conversion can be difficult, but it's something that I feel I could pull off with some work. I'm sure we all remember this one:

Any opinions?
