Is there anyway to repair this tear on a jacket? The leather is sheep.

If by repair you mean patch it up then yes, easily. You can't make the damage disappear, though.

I’m not really an expert on repairs, anyone have an example of what patchwork looks like?

car seat or sofa repair guy makes miracles on this kind of patching with stuff, from what I see in youtube, they glue on backing material like felt or canvas under the hole as backing, and then they use transparent silicon glue, and smear it with a piece of flat edge of a semi flexible plastic cutout, wait it cure abit, and then run their thumb over it to knock off the shine and to leave grain of his fingerprint lightly, and then apply thin coat of primer perhaps oil based primer for oil paint, color it with gradation using small paintbrush to match the surrounding and dry it with a hairdryer.

I actually sent photos to a place called leather spa that will try and repair it. The quote I got was $180
