Is it safe to wear my hat in the rain? Is it up quality/waterproofness?

Thanks guys! That makes me feel a little better about it. As has been suggested, I’ll grab one of my Akubras when there’s a good chance of rain in the forecast.

The main concern for me is an unexpected shower while wearing a nice dress hat. It sounds like I should be in good shape if that happens.

I have a “Beaver Brand” fedora that was custom made for me back in 2006. It’s been through several drenching rains and still looks like new.

I guess another suggestion is maybe give your Stetson a coating of Scotchguard. It won’t stand up to a downpour but the water will bead off in a light to moderate rain. To keep it up you will have to reapply every 3-6 months. Just do the outside of your hat. You can buy a can at Walmart cheap.

I have hit rabbit, wool and cotton hats with scotchguard with no ill effects on the hats or ribbon.

I was just asked about my Lock & CO. Sandown, about how it handles rain...
Here are 2 pix of it hiking (Twin Falls WA) in the pouring rain...this was a bonafide 'downpour'....The 3rd pix is the next day, skiing, (Snoqualmie Pass WA). I could not belive how fast it dried and how great it looked. And this is with no scotchguard, just quality rabbit pelts from Spain.
