OP, I think it looks great. For reference, I’m 6’2, 180lbs and I wear an XL N1 and XXL in IH UHFs.

Same here. I’m hugely biased, but I honestly think their take on the N1 is the best out there, if you want a slightly more modern fit.

It’s my favourite piece of IH clothing, and I have a fair bit lol..
100% in agreement.
And I am not at all qualified to rank the IH compared to other makers as it is the only one I’ve ever owned or even tried on. But it is so well executed that once I got one I didn’t feel any need to see what else was out there. I have never owned such a warm jacket that fit so well and looked sharp at the same time.
I too own many pieces from IH and their N-1 has to be in my top three Favorites.

Well, I’m 6’3” and 195 lbs, size 42. I just ordered an XXL; hopefully, it isn’t too big. My girlfriend said the black jacket looked the coolest, so I got that one.

Always a good idea to listen to the girlfriend, especially when she’s right. What does your chest measure?

40 inches around tight. 41 inches tight with a chunky sweater.
You might be alright in the xxl. I started there but returned it for an xl. I have a 42” chest and 19.5” shoulders.

The great thing about IH is that you can easily swap it out for another size at minimal cost.

Yes, I think we are similar in size, I might be closer to 20” shoulder. I don't know what color I’d go with outside of black.

With khaki or olive, of course, or maybe navy blue. I find black very unfavourable for fabric as it takes away all the contrast and shape. I have noticed this with jackets, trousers and other clothes. In a direct comparison, the non-black version usually won. I recently noticed this again with my two M-65s.

Too bad iron heart doesn't make one in blue.

Now between khaki or olive…

Is there a noticeable difference between the Oiled IH Deck jacket and the regular one? The company's website says that oiling improves water and wind resistance.

Also, their website says that the non-oiled whipcord jacket can be hand-washed. People who own the jacket, what is your recommendation based on experience?

I own the oiled whip cord version and based on what I’ve read it wears about 2oz’s heavier than the non oiled whip cord.

The jacket is incredibly warm and wind resistant due to the interlining between the outer shell and lining. I’m not sure the oiling process adds a ton of value otherwise, but I wanted the sleeker looking version without the D pocket detailing, so oiled was the only way.

I haven’t had to wash mine yet, but my understanding is spot clean with a damp cloth is best .

I don't know. I like it because there is room to layer underneath. I think it fits me, but I want to be sure because it's an expensive jacket. I'm mostly concerned about the shoulders, but I think it fits.
