I know there was some discussion as to the real reason to post on the Fedora Lounge. Whether it be Golden Era knowledge, style, historical myths and facts, or more personal matters. So many new threads pop up every day. I can imagine they are the most frequented, since they are new. I was wondering how many members here dig deep into the dark passageways of the lounge, where forgotten threads have developed dust, wishing to be discovered?

I've dwelled into the older threads every so often. Why not often enough? There is so much information here. Even if you didn't come at first to learn, you pick up pieces of knowledge everyday. Even though there is much knowledge to discover in the new threads, take a peak at the older ones. In comparison to one of the benefits of the lounge, the older the information, the more interesting it is.

Before I gave up being a lurker at the gates I spent days looking at the old threads. Page after page going backwards to the "dawn of (Lounge)time". It seemed like a lot to read at that time-several years ago. If I was coming here now the back log of threads are so big that I don't think I could even attempt to read them all.

I'm weird - I use search. But sometime I really ought to push [Last] and check out the very earliest threads in an area - you never know what you'll find. It sort of requires a passion for information in itself, rather than just your question du jour.

I still go into the archives and use the search feature to find old threads and research topics.
The Lounge is an invaluable resource of information. Now would be the right time to thank everyone who has contributed their time, experience, and photos. The member contributions make the place a pleasure to visit.

It's pretty much the same on all site. There's just too much past with the same key phrases.

I pretty much am not too interested in digging up dead threads because often the people who discussed the topic a year ago aren't around and it seems as though I'd rather have a new take on the subject from current Lounger anyway.[huh]

I research archives from time to time, on subjects I keep interest with,
True going back you'll see members no longer here, but its good to keep thier posts, saves time going over again, wide range of subjects from verious groups, not current but useful. So I hope no one deletes them, else warn us so I can copy and save info.

I use search as well... and I dig deep now and again. It takes time to do this... I think some of the newer members or even some of us get to a point we hope to get an answer fast, so we don't dig up an old thread... it's human nature.

But, there are fortunes of information in the past threads! Golly, I mean, what is one of the longest threads here? I'd have to say "Show us your suits" is one of the longest threads! It was started in 2003 and is still getting added to I believe.

The Fedora Lounge is like a giant Thrift Village or Salvation Army or Goodwill store... all the best stuff is buried. Dig and you will be rewarded.

New members would do well even just to search by member name. Marc Chevalier and Wildroot could keep you busy for weeks and weeks.

A real fact is that many of the older threads include information that has since been forgotten. New things are discussed everyday, but there are those little and bigger details that have never been mentioned since 2002 or 2003 and have been lost in the archives. Amazingly, some of the photos are still there too, but many are not, which is a shame when someone is describing something which you cannot see. But here lies the answer. After finding this little piece of information, bring it back in a new thread or revive the old one and perhaps there will be someone who can post another similar photo.

That's half the fun of this place. Tons of good info can be found delving into the archives.
