Info on Leather Jacket Maker Brand Garuda

Hi folks, I'm trying to find more info on this particular leather jacket brand, Garuda Leather.

It seems that there isn't any info whatsoever online about this brand's origin or where they manufacture the jackets, but I've found a few pieces on online auction sites that are based in Asia (Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia).

https://hk.carousell.com/p/caruda-genuine-horsehide-leather-jacket-157082162/

The only thing I know so far is they make Buco J-24 style horsehide jackets, and that the brand started in 1955. I'm not sure if Garuda leather still exists today. My guess is that it's a Japanese brand, but I've already used google translate and search "Garuda Leather Jacket". Still no website, blogs or any info.

If you know where I can buy their jacket, or can point me to their physical address or online store, please let me know!

It seems the Japanese repro market is so saturated that these companies often times rebrand themselves over and over with different names to generate more hype than the precursor. Jacket looks nice but no better than at least a half dozen other known entities and worse than at least a half a dozen more that I can give you a physical address for...

Ah okay, could you name some of the manufacturers (preferably Japanese makers) or their address? Aside from the already famous ones like Mccoys.

I mean, it doesn't have to be from a specific brand. I'm really just looking for manufacturers who can make jackets with this same exact leather finish and shine.

From all the leather jackets I've ever seen, this one from Garuda draws me most.

If it is the shine you are after, you can polish up almost any leather..

As for the company, never heard of them. Jacket looks the same as 38458 other Buco repros out there to me, but historically accurate Bucos are not exactly my field so ey, maybe this is the one that's 1/100000th closer to the original than the other repros (except that would probably require much wonkier stitching and lesser quality hide than any of the Japanese repros have).

Yep. I don't see any of these repros falling apart at the seams which isn't very accurate, I'm afraid.

Leather on this one does look nice, though.

Sorry, what I meant is I'm looking for a jacket with the exact same leather (texture, grain, shine etc). I know Mccoys is regarded as one of the top buco jacket makers out there, but I've seen their jackets and it's just different, in terms of grain, texture and shine. Not saying it's bad, as I'm sure theirs is also of very high quality, it's just that I like the one from Garuda better.

Also, not looking for a historically accurate repro. I just want a double rider style, it doesn't have to be J-24, but customization is costly, and J-24 by default looks cool anyway.

Say, of the 38458 Japanese Buco repros, do you happen to know a few who can make jackets with this exact same leather?

The Schott 1928H Japanese model has a shiny coating look. Perhaps Y'2 leather vintage horse model?

or Indian Motorcycle by Toyo Enterprise?

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/272297180
or Harley Davidson Japanese licensed models?

Those are all older models that are no longer produced.
From what I have seen, owing to a shift in the taste, the Japanese don't use this type of leather anymore. Real McCoy's has some older leather jackets that uses similar leather e.g. the RM x Harley Cycle Champ.

I dig that last one Cycle Champ. Size 36 isn’t gonna work even for me though...

Garuda is a Hindu god with the body of a man and the head of a hawk. I know he's particularly worshiped in Bali, as we picked up a really nice statue of him there many years ago. So my guess is that your jacket could be either Indian or possibly Balinese.

Yahoo auction Japan and Rakuten. Rakuten has lots of 2nd hand stores. Yahoo auction has both private sellers and shops. So Yahoo auction is like ebay (auction and BIN) and Rakuten is like Amazon (fixed price). At the beginning you can search the Rakuten and Yahoo auction using English keywords and if you do it long enough and get to recognize the Japanese characters, you can copy those characters to put into the search field.

Now I wonder whether these are options I even want to consider. For my wallet’s sake. Ignorance is bliss and all that.

Thanks for the info.

Vanson has leather like this. Really dark black, high shine and stiff. The best leather I've seen on a bike jacket, and I've looked at billions.
