If you could have any hat

I'm between a 7 5/8 and a 7 3/4, so any quality vintage would do. A Stetson Playboy, Stetson Whippet, an Adam Executive, a lightweight hat, a foldable hat, or any Borsalino would be great. For current hats, definitely an Adventurebilt, but I don't have $400.00 laying around.

Franklin D. Roosevelt's hat (now on display at "The Little White House" in Warm Springs, Georgia).

If I may be so bold, so as to trim the responses from a wish list panoply, let's re-word the question to, if you could have any hat, but only one hat, what would it be?

Now, that's tough, eh? Has to be in a style and color that goes with just about anything you might wear, and durable since it's the one-and-only that you wear practically every day. Would have to be in a weight that you could wear in all seasons, too.

Me? I'd go with a vintage beaver fur felt fedora: Either a Cavanagh or lightweight Borsalino with about a 2 1/2-inch brim in light gray or silver belly.

Do I have either of these? No, but I continue to look for one in near-perfect condition in 7 1/8.

If I could find one, I'd dispense with all my other hats. And if you believe that, I'd like to talk with you about some property for sale in south Florida...

Same answer. Stetson Open Road (or lookalike), cattleman bash, slate gray. Country enough to look good away from town, cosmopolitan enough to not look like a rodeo reject in town. The OR might be called The Nashville Sound of western hats....

I think I have every hat I ever wanted -- four custom made fedoras, a black open road, a green selentino, an Akubra Federation and Campdraft, two vintage Borsalinos.

Plus some cowboy hats -- a Stetson "Gus," a Rand cowboy hat, an open crown Bailey I have yet to have styled, may go for a Tom Mix look.

Can't think of a darned thing. Oh, I don't have a Stratoliner. So, maybe a Stratoliner. With one of those little airplane pins in it.

Now I know why you didn't answer my thread......lol

That's really got an interesting bash to it - the way the crown curves back and then flattens at the back is really unique. It's a nice color combination - I'm thinking my next hat may be a very light beige or cream like that.
