I thought all of you should know that I have been diagnosed with a serious condition, and there is absolutely no hope for a cure.
This condition has probably have been dormant in me for some time, and it was only in the past 4 years or so that the condition has worsened.
They tell me that it is highly contagious, and I have probably unknowingly infected many persons around me. They say I can live my remaining years in comfort, depending on my surrounds.

The name for my condition is "HESTERNOPOTHIA". I had never heard of it, but when they told me what it was, I knew right away that the diagnosis was correct.

A pathological yearning for the good old days. You know -- when World War II was in full swing, your children got diphtheria, and dentists used slow drills and no anaesthetic.

It hasn't quite affected me. While I wish a lot of things were as well made as they used to be (and as stylish), I don't really care for the prevalent attitudes towards women and minorities. Not to mention the current dental and medical technology, sexual identity of people, and gas guzzling automobiles.

Yes, I definitely feel this way about style, product quality, manners and many other areas. I do not feel nostalgia for the prevailing views on women, minorities, sexuality and many other areas. As a diabetic, I could also do without the more primitive medical technology.

I can also do without stuff like this:

Gee, now I know where I got it from.
Why you! :p

You say you don't care for today's attitudes towards women and minorities, dental and medical technology, sexual identity of people, and gas guzzling automobiles? Have I got an era for you.

(I just learned that the man who built our house in 1937 got to live in it barely two months before he had to go to the TB sanitarium, where he subsequently died. He was 39.)
