A dear supportive friend at work once commented that she liked my old ties (40's vintage) and came in with a bunch of nice skinny 60's vintage ties for me. Gak! I tried to camouflage my reaction, since they were given with sincere affection. But of course I don't wear them. Unfortunately some customers will say things like "I know you like ties so here." and will hand me a thoughtful gift of an extra-ordinarilly ugly tie. Some relatives have done the same thing. I do wear and like ties but it is funny that they don't consider the style I wear. Oh well, they mean well.
