Just thought I would mention an interesting piece of history lost in the middle of nowhere:
Near Lancaster, CA, about an 1.5 hours north of L.A., there is a small airport called Fox Feild. I go there often becuase there is a nice park to walk my dogs at. During a trip there, I decided to stop by a small museum there, and was supprised to find that they had a decent collection of historic aircraft. However, I was not prepared to be informed that the B-25 Mitchell, white with no weapons and no wings, sitting outside the museum, was owned by Howard Hughes. The tour guide informed me that he flew the plane with his new bride just after thier wedding. He stopped at some airfield in the south, left the plane there, jumped on another and never returned for it.
