Find out two things about yourself.
1)What your name supposedly means.
2)How popular your first name has been over the past 100 years.

My name 'Jeffrey' - Means: Gift of Peace

Decade Popularity Rank
1900's >1000
1910's >1000
1920's >1000
1930's 619
1940's 89
1950's 24
1960's 10
1970's 15
1980's 30
1990's 55

FYI- Rank shows how popular the name is in the corresponding decade. A rank of 1 means it is the most popular name for that gender. A rank of 1000 means it is the 1000th most popular.

My danish firstname - Søren - was not even there. (No surprise)

Then I tried "Soren" - Voila: Means "God of War":eusa_doh:
And it had never been popular...[huh] in USA that is. (No surprise either)

In Denmark it's a fairly common name - but not among the top 20. It has allways been around.
(Søren Kierkegaard a.o.) Comes from the old Severin - meaning "The serious".
(Not that I am though...)

"Amy" was most popular in the 70s (when I was born), and least popular in the 30s (my fave decade).

I seem to remember doing this one time before? Was it here or another MB?

Honorable ruler, 70s- 91, 80s- 89...

Looks like my parents were a bit ahead of the bell curve, but not much.

Hmm...changed the spelling and it JUMPED up the charts, though. In the top 100 since 1950, climbed as high as 14 in the 70s with the FRENCH spelling.

My name means Princess

It was most popular in the 1990s (#4!) and 1980s (#5), which surprised me. It was #91 in the 1960s when I was born.

William = "Protector"

From 1900's thru 1940's in the top five. I'm the III, my son's the IV, and my grandson's the V, so I guess we've done our part to help keep the name popular.

Ugh. Mine was ranked #1 in the 70's (when I was born, go figure) and #2 in the 80's. My mother had an unusual first name and hated it so she set out to name me the most common popular name she could find.

and I HATE my name.

Top 40 name when my cousin (whose full name I share) was born in the 1900s. Seems to have increased in popularity from the 60s on through the 90s.

Looks like my name, Barry (Barry - Means: Marksman), was most popular during the 1950's.

Never cared for the name myself....But at this stage, a little late to make any changes.....I'll live with it....LOL!!!! lol

Yes ineed.... I have a very popular name.
I've never seen the meaning of the name phrased as a question before. Its like they're unsure about it! I mean, really... can there be any doubt? Ha ha!

I'm going to refrain from voting in the poll though, since my name was #1 five decades in a row....

Seeing as I was born in 1965, that's about right. And I've never been too keen on my name, either.

"Kaeti" is a decidedly un-vintage title. [huh]
...But it's an adaptation of "Katie," which means "pure and virginal." Katie was pretty popular in the 1900's, and then its popularity began to dwindle before making a comeback in the 1970's.

My middle name really has history.
It is "Rose," named after my very infamous flapper-feminist great-grandmother. It was most popular in the 1900's, with the 1910's and 1920's following closely behind.
