How to get pale, luminous skin?

MAC make a product called "Prep & Prime" that has a SPF 50,
if its not availabe there you could get it off Ebay,
there are good SPF products in Oz ( im Australian) its just figuring out what works best for you !

I heard an interview with Dita von Teese where she was asked how she stayed so white. She said that on her trips to Japan she buys some serious heavy duty sunscreen. I wonder what that is, does anyone know? Perhaps it could be ordered online. The sunscreen technology available today is stone-age like, the world is really in need of something that works better. In Japan, they might have something more advanced that is not yet available in other parts of the world.

i love this product (p&p 50) i use it instead of my regular moisturiser, but than again i have combination skin (on the oily side... ) it's a bit pricy, but a little really goes a long way. please don't be tempted to buy mac prodacs on e-bay because there are so many fakes out there, that look exactly like the real thing. if you find a "great deal" on a mac product on e-bay, that sounds too good to be true, that's because it probably is...better yet spend a couple of dollars more and get the real thing.

I read somewhere that she uses Shiseido, but I don't know how accurate that is. [huh]

I'm among the league of the superpale, having been called everything from casper to snow white to "good lord are you an albino?" (when I had white hair, which is hilarious to me as my aunt [who does have albinism] would have been so offended). I'm the kind of white where if you use a camera flash my nose disappears :'D

Here's when I had white hair, what I look like outside in the setting sun, with just regular foundation on. (this was the time when people asked if I was albino/if I was wearing whiteface)

and with nothing but red lipstick here.

I use bare escentuals mineral foundation in the lightest shade (I don't have the pot here to look at the name) and it gives a fabulously dewy look, but I'm weird and dislike ANY form of shine so I usually have to powder it down with a mix of corn starch and translucent setting powder (the setting powder is too dark on its own).

When I was a kid I was very tan and every summer I would try and outdo myself on a difference in tan between my outer and inner forearms. Nowadays I avoid the sun like the plague and tend to wear almost full-body coverage when I do go out, though I hardly ever use sunscreen because I cannot stand greasyness on myself at all, which is a detriment to myself but when I can find a good, non-greasy one I'll be sure to use it.

Aaaand after that book I just wrote I'll go back to quietly lurking :3

I also like a matte look, and the best primer so far is a self-made mixture of silica powder spheres (available at Coastal Scents) and superfine silk powder (also available at retailer shops for mineral make-up ingredients). If I use this (with my mineral foundation or setting powder on top) I'm shine-free almost the whole day long.

kryolan has a great product called 'perfect matt'. it's a gel textured primer that prevents skin from shining, only problem is it doesn't have spf

Japanese sunblock is great! The only reason why it's much more advanced is because pure white skin is one of the most desirable beauty traits in Japan

I use cheap drugstore japanese sunscreen+ cheap western sunscreen+ Kose Moisture Mild white. Overkill, but it works!

I've been wanting to try Haba Fair Lady, It's actually called 'Haba White Lady' in asia. But, I've only heard good reviews on it! It supposedly helps on acne, too. So that's a plus!

You're welcome. I've tried dozens of (partly high end) primers and they all didn't deliver the results I expected. This recipe is cheap and it works, I use about 10-15% of the silica powder spheres and the rest is silk powder. Applied lightly with a dense kabuki brush, it works like a charm. You can also add (different sorts of) mica oder kaolin clay, but for me, the simple version is the best.

I have finally found makeup that matches my paper white skin. I've tried practically every brand of makeup that I could get my hands on, but everything always turned orange and was noticeably too dark.
I thought I should share with others

The brand is Illamasqua, they are a relatively new brand from the UK.
The shade is CF110, it looks almost white, with a very faint pink tone. I have a yellow undertone, but it looks like my own skin!

It comes in a lovely compact with a large mirror.

The coverage is build-able, it doesn't cake and blends very easily.
It smells faintly like vanilla It also leaves your skin silky smooth, and even outs skin tone!

The entire brand looks promising, I can't wait to try their lipsticks.

fftopic: I've been sticking to Benefit's Dr. Feelgood. It's clear... But it has some UV protection and makes the skin look even. When a blemish rears its ugly head, I dab on MAC's very lightest concealer. Any makeup I've tried has either been too tawny or too plain dark!

Proactiv has a new Skin Lightening Lotion: http://www.fabuloussavings.com/online/us/proactiv/1/proactivskinlighteninglotion/ I think its mostly to correct sun damage on the underlayer dermis, but thats what puts a dent in would-be luminous skin anyhow.

more to the point, I tried Sylvanrealm mask from page 1 of the thread after reading the benefits of Acidophilus for acne and scars. I almost don't want to post and jinx it, but while drying, this has been the single most effective thing I have ever used for my acne and scar-related redness.

I went home the other day for a visit and my mom asked if I didn't want to wash my makeup off before bed - when I wasn't wearing any! - it had such instant effects (I'd been using it 3 days at the time). It's been better than antibiotics, and far less skin-upsetting than differin gel.

No way I could do it twice a day like suggested, my skin would cry, but once a day - two days on, one day off, all followed by heavy moisturizing, has produced the most amazing results. In case anyone else is struggling with their skin, it's worth a try!
