How many of you guys ordered from the Aero sale?

Could someone fill me in on the Aero sales - how often are they and what’s the discount? I’ve not bought from them and would ideally want to tie an order in with a sale and a trip up to Scotland to get measured properly. Just wondering when that’s likely to be.
I think it is hit and miss. No set time. I would recommend creating an account and subscribing to their newsletter and check from time to time. I was vacationing in Hawaii this summer (had a blast in Oahu and Maui!!!) and on the last day of the sale with like 4 HRS left I saw their email announcing the week long sale in my junk folder while I was lying in bed in the hotel! I emailed them right away to confirm how much time I had to order and Holly was so responsive! IIRC she responded during off hours! Ofc later the prices had a pretty big increase so it all worked out for me.

From what I've observed over the last few years, there seems to be a sale maybe once a year. I think there are smaller sales on sweaters and things that pop up yearly too.

I would agree with this. I only started following recently and knew they had a sale around July 2023 and was waiting for July 2024 but obv it came Aug 2024.

Thanks guys - and it’s 15% off? I’ve decided to go for a Lewis for my first quality jacket after lucking out with the off the rack fit, but I’d like to try Areo next now I’ve got a solid steer on measurements and fit. Waiting till summer suits me (and my wallet).

I think so but not 100% sure. Also were you able to try the Lewis first or just mail order? After this crosszip Im entertaining and wishing for a cafe racer next but that has to wait lol!

My order arrived today. Would have been pre-Christmas, but I was traveling for the holidays, and asked Aero to hold off shipping until I got back. They were kind enough to comply!

I ordered a customized J-106 with a King of the Road back, in black CXLSH, with olive stitching and olive stateen lining.

Fit is nice. Roomier than I expected, but it works.

The only thing that surprised me is that the D-pocket zipper closes DOWN, not UP. In my mind, I always thought it would be closed UP.

I went and looked, and found that Aero's photo of the jacket does indeed show the D-pocket closes DOWN. But Thurston Bros' photo shows the opposite! I guess either is "correct" then, so not an error, but all things being equal I would have preferred an up-closing D-pocket. I'm pretty sure all other D-pocket jackets I've owned close UP.

Well alrighty then! They both look great, and a google image search for "aero j-106" shows examples going both ways, and neither looking "wrong". I guess I just never noticed this before, but ok. If you're going to order one and happen to care, make sure you specify when you order!

The CXL Steer is gorgeous. I'll have to post some pics of mine when the lighting is better.

Gorgeous jacket! A little room to move in a crosszip is no bad thing imo. It's all too easy to go for the cool of the DeeDee Ramone look, but having just enough room to layer is a practical benefit... and, tbf, I'm a big fan of the Johnny Strabler 'big over the shoulders, neater further down' [but modified for a middle-aged Edward's, er, spread...]... I've learned the hard way that too tight is too tight... (I remember this coming up a few years a back on TFL, and some of us - I'm a prime example - definitely get into vintage and then go through a stage of wearing jackets too tight, an overcorrection, before finding the 'right' fit later....

A visit to the factory is *always * worth it. I dropped in in 2014. I timed my visit against where I was in the waiting list so that my jacket was right about to go into production. As well as showing me round the place, Murray let me be involved in the process of choosing the actual hides my jacket was made from ,which was a really nice experience.

Aero don't do set sales as such - every so often they might put something out there, but as they only keep certain, high-shifting, models in stock, they don't tend to have end of lines or Black Friday or anything like that at set times of year. Worth keeping an eye on their sales/stock page, though. Especially the Apprentice made jackets. I have two AM jackets I've nought from them over the years - very substantial discount and they are absolute stunners of jackets.

I tried the Lewis at the store in London. I had a meeting nearby so went there mainly to get a sense of sizing and their leathers, tried green sheep dominator off the rack and it was spot on. This forum has been really useful, I try and only buy clothes I’ll wear and enjoy for many years and I quickly realised what an absolute minefield leather jackets are.

Oh that's awesome(looked black in the picture but I really like that you went with a brown crosszip, to few of them out there lol) Badalassi makes some gorgeous leather! and indeed it's good with some choices when it comes to leather jackets :D

Received. This is meant to be the tumbled version of the CXL HH (it looks very much like the non-tumbled version in their pictures, and going from my non-tumbled Highwayman) and is the KOTR model but with a fixed mouton collar. The sleeves are a full inch shorter than specified but it still fits reasonably well at the moment, I think? Hopefully they don’t shorten too much as it creases.

From that picture the sleeves looks perfect in my eyes(and the fit overall), but I do enjoy shorter rather than longer sleeves personally, not that I would call those sleeves "short" :)

So I wouldn't stress it if I was you, but in the end you know yourself best mate :)

Cheers!

Looks like everyone went for a cross zip D-pocket biker jacket for the sale...
No. Western shirt for me. Still waiting. Worry about the shoulder width on those, seems really narrow.

I’m not far enough along the leather jacket road to order a cross zip, though I’ve been finding them more appealing lately.

Generally I tend towards the shorter fit on sleeves too (just onto the hand is fine) but I am a little concerned given that this is before the sleeves wear in and crease, and the jacket is intended for real use on a motorcycle, reaching forward. I have sent a message to Aero to make sure I’m measuring it right, but the max figure I’m getting is 23.75”, rather than the 24.75” we had resolved on.
