1. Is it for riding? If so what type of motorbike do you intend to use it with?

ELMC Windward is a nice jacket. It's not the most functional as a true moto jacket, but it has a quilted wool insulated lining that is toasty.

Snagged this beauty over the weekend - a mint Hercules, circa 40's. It was listed as horsehide, however the Hercules label doesn't state the type of leather unfortunately. I'm hoping this a true vintage 48, and will fit like a 44/46.

I doubt it will fit like a 44, Vintage sizing isn't that odd. Probably fit like a 46. More early/mid 50s than 40s.

I have a nice selection of vintage 30s Goathide jackets. They do hold up well and are the most interesting designs.

got this 50s horsehide Hercules recently. Another style I had not seen. Also light weight hide.

Vanson cross zips can be spec'd with quilted liners as can Lost Worlds. Quite a difference in price points but both make for a very suitable winter jacket, minus the nasty polar vortex stuff.

That Hercules you just posted has some killer patina going on, such a wonderful looking hide.

My first 'real' leather jacket got finalized today! Aero Hooch Hauler in brown CXL FQHH, antique brass hardware, black cotton drill lining and olive stitching. Hoping for end of June/early July delivery, when it'll be impossible to wear even at night . Can't freaking wait!

Just put in an order with Aero for a grizzly. Seal Vicenza with mid brown fur, fur collar, strap and buckle cuffs. Now the wait begins. So excited for this jacket!

I have tried real McCoy’s there buco j24 seems lightweight, fine creek also seems to have cotton lining and himel wont contact me back.

You ask for advice for motorcycle jackets, then proceed to ignore that advice and contact exactly those makers who make a beautiful jacket but not very suited for riding. Are you sure you know what you want and what you want it for? Because that's the first question you should tackle before you spend one to three grands on a jacket.

In that case, your choice is pretty wide. If you want something very warm, I would go with something like this:

If you don't need anything that warm, then you might want to get quilt lining, it is pretty warm. Also, if it is something you would consider, get a jacket you can layer under.

Try a Schott 689H. Horse hide, quilted lining, pattern is cut as a motorcycle jacket but it is a bit longer. I had one and they are nice although it takes a while to break in due to the heavy hide and quilted lining. Don't believe the website and order a size up like they suggest. They fit true to size.

As a consolation for waiting you might find you can wear it for more of the year than perhaps you thought.They are a warm jacket but lighter on the body if that makes any sense-Lot of fun to wear.

Just had a SB Eskdale land ..... was after a heavy winter shearling fitted jacket for the bike and this was in black / black .......

Nicely done but far too lightweight - I knew as soon as I picked up the box

So will be on its way back tomorrow and the search continues

Are moto jackets meant to be warm? Because I have a hard time finding a warm one.

They're meant to block wind and rain and protect you from road rash in the event of an accident. Not meant to be warm I'm afraid. Size up and layer accordingly.

People mostly ride in good weather, during summer. But at speed wind can get pretty cold. At 60F you want warmth for 60mph. Above 80, you want ventilation. A good motorcycle jacket is able to adapt to a range of conditions, through venting, removable linings, and room to layer.

Its been a busy month. Got a black nubuck trucker from Johnson a few weeks back, just after that an Aero X LVC, three days ago an Aero Board Racer in dark seal Vicenza, and still waiting on a Lewis Corsair in black sheepskin...

Think I’m keeping everything but the Aero X LVC.
