Nice! Patina king right there. California Sportswear made. Can’t give you an exact date but it’s between 1950-1955.

Would it be a crime to use urad on this to put color back into it? Or should I just use obenaufs to hydrate it?

Not a jacket but a wallet. Super happy with it. The whole thing is one of my favorite leathers, shinki horsebutt. I may take the brass link off.

Best of all it was only $100 which is crazy. Similar (from a solo maker) would be 2-3x as much in the US.

Urad won’t moisturize leather. If it’s dry Urad shouldn’t be the first conditioner you use. Use an oil first, then Urad to seal it up. Urad is wax. The dark brown Urad will make that jacket look showroom new but if the leather needs hydrating, address that first with a conditioner.

I hate Urad. That shit is disgusting. Makes me want to puke just smelling it. I’ll only ever use the clear Urad in the tiniest amounts to cover any small areas of color loss. Does a good job with that but so do many other products.

I would open the liner and reinforce that area of the shoulder with a thin piece of donor leather on the inside.

I'm reluctant to do any surgery if I can avoid it. What would you use to affix the leather in there? Glue?

Yep, glue the roughout side to the rough out side of the compromised shoulder, I open the liner at the sleeve seam and go in that way as it's very easy to repair. There's just no healing cracked leather but you can really wear it trouble free and stop the bleeding with an internal patch.

For the patch you can use anything strong: thin leather piece (as Ton suggests), or denim, canvas, etc. I personally use fabric so I don't feel a bump.
After 6mo or so, you could give a coating of Urad to "seal" it up....(the one use I've found for it).
