How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

This!

That´s why I said, it could mean all sorts of things. If Greg is VAT-exempt, it means, that he cannot deduct VAT from EU-orders. He could however

- lower prices for customers ordering from the EU (I understand Iron Heart is doing that; Dundas Footwear from Norway have been doing that in the past)
- arrange for a courier service (e.g. DHL) to handle EU-imports as his expence.

Jacket will be send by the end of this month. Thanks for all your feedback! Once I receive it, I should be able to gain some insight from the paperwork. In any event, I am happy for Greg that he seems to be really busy, and I really do appreciate that he took the admin of handling import duties from me.

My first UK jacket import customs experience.

Yesterday I bought an Eastman Californian from someone in the UK. The seller declared it as a gift with a value of €50. I just received an email from the parcel carrier, UPS, that customs crearance fees need to be payed over the value of the item+shipping costs.

Customs fee: €26.23

Which is not a lot, but that's only because I had the seller declare a value of €50. I would have had to pay about €390 (VAT+import tax over £1200+shipping) in case he had declared the real value of £1200.

Jackets from the UK have become a lot more expensive. Brexit sucks.

Edit: I based the above calculation on MRSP. Since I bought second hand from eBay, I should have used purchase price instead.

I payed £705 for the jacket + shipping.
705*1.21 (VAT) = £853
£853*1.04 (import fee on leather jackets) = £887

That means that if I had declared the purchase price as the actual value, it would have cost me £182 or €205 + handling fees for the parcel carrier.

hmm... I wonder if the north of Ireland is about to experience a sudden boom in custom/repro leather jacket manufacture

2 incoming and I think I saved the best for last. We'll see, but these are probably the end game for me for a long time (or at least until I sell off a bunch). 16 total leather jackets is starting to get into obsession land and more importantly, these things deserve to be worn so they start to look the best they can look. Luckily about half of them are vintage and I have a head start, but still, would love to get down to the number of months. 1 per month, that sounds good : )

Field Leathers Route 66. Greg started today and I should have later next week. Some tweaks to his usual design, some new liner color, and hopefully some perfect measurements.

Thedi Leather removable collar- the one from Thomas's classifieds. I really love that jacket in brown and got really close to ordering one from scratch. But recent job loss has got me second guessing high end purchases. This was too good of a deal to pass up and just crossing fingers it fits me well.
