How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

Just NO!!! Don't soak shearling jacket! Never, EVER! Don't even think about it!

The jacket looks perfectly fine as it is & it's a steal at that price. There's nothing that can happen to these jackets. They're plasticized on the outside and there's wool on the inside. Dirt can't get thru one way or the other. You're good. But DON'T soak shearling for God's sake!

Why are you so strongly against washing a shearling jacket?

See this post below apparently some member has already done it and the result is fine.

Wow, never thought that mash actually works! The listed prices are much more reasonable. I almost started a thread to ask around the other day.
If I may ask, what’s the final price includes everything, and how long does it take for the shipping?
Another thing that I worry about is that the package maybe too small and can easily get lost, is it just an envelope or a package? Thanks

I know a few people have gotten things from Bronson around here. Also can’t recall if the thread was about a tanker or B jacket, but one awhile back about that. In any case I’m in the market for a tanker jacket, but need it to be a reasonable price whatever that means haha. Bronson looks to have a decent* version for about 160. ATF actually has an attractive tanker because it’s only 99. It doesn’t have an authentic liner but that’s fine by me, I’m not an Army/War guy I just happen to love the look of tankers and need a decent fall/early winter jacket. For example Buzz Rickson have a great version but it’s 445. So Id like to have a tanker incoming but looking for any experience here* with Bronson or ATF tankers. Thanks all.

I bought two of them so the total came out to $182.00 with shipping. I bought a zipper from them once a couple years ago for a Navy jacket I own and I think they shipped it in a small box but I cannot remember for sure. I think it usually takes about a week or two for it to arrive, the zippers have already shipped.

hm,
I wish I had one, I would share it with all of you. I placed the deposit late last year after seeing Boyo’s Hercules in all of its glory. John sent me a brief message afterwards thanking me for the deposit and informing me that the wait time would probably be about 12 months.
I reached out a couple weeks ago since I figured it was good to see how things were looking, to be honest though I was not expecting much news. I was blown away when John replied to my second email and said that he would like to make my jacket at the end of the month. I went from thinking that I probably had months (or longer) more wait time to scrambling to find the right liner and get it shipped to John in Seattle.

That's great to know, I hope this will give hope to other people wanting a jacket from GW. Aside from Acadia/Hercules/A2, what other patterns does he do? I'm having a hard time navigating his website. I'm thinking of getting a jacket made by GW, I don't mind the wait so that might work out.

It’s mine. Very special thanks to Alan at Johnson leathers for offering me a rock’n good deal on this bad boy. They are shortening the kidney panel by 1.5” and I’ll be GOOD TO GO. Ridiculously happy to be getting back into the cross zip game with this jacket.

I'm glad this is going to you. This jacket is really beautifully made and I'm sure you'll like it better than your older JL. Welcome back to the cross zip game

On his Homepage you need to click on “photos of new jacket productions” an index of most all his models is there- a lot of A-2s...the Californians are his civilian types. Each has a subset of photos.

Jin, The A-2s are all laid out pretty clearly on his website but his civilian jackets are not as easy to find. handymike is right that perusing the photo index of his “Californian” models is probably the best way to pick your favorite. For me I think that the Arcadia is still probably my favorite one. I will let you guys know if that changes when I receive the Hercules.

I'm considering this Eastman Leather Mechanic Type D-1 but due to my lack of experience with both Eastman and shearling jackets, I'm not sure if 375€ is a reasonable price for an Eastman D-1 in this "good" condition. The owner told me that no cleaning is necessary (no odors) and also no repairs are necessary, just the shearling is a bit worn on sleeves and hem. I wonder if cleaning in a bathtub with warm water and detergents is possible or if extra chemical dry cleaning is necessary. I was also in discussing with John Lever about his RMC B-3 but I'm not sure about sizing (42) and also if the B-3 is too thick/warm for our climate. D-1 or B-6 might be a better choice. I was even thinking about Thedi's thinner modified B-3 jacket. What do you guys think? Thanks!

Robbie, I got a used Aero B3 off the classifieds over the summer. The day it arrived, it was literally 105 degrees (40 C I think) in Los Angeles. My wife thought I completely lost my mind as I wore it around the house in flip flops and boxer shorts.

First thing I did was take it to a tailor because it was a size big. I wasn't sure how much to compensate for the shearling thickness and all that so I ended up like 3 inches too big on the chest and 1.5 on the shoulders. The shoulders I couldn't fix without a major rework, but my tailor did a great job on the ptp, waist and bottom hem. Almost fits like a D1 now.

I bought it because it's just one of those things I always wanted. Living in LA, I knew I wouldn't get a lot of use out of it. But here's what I found. I can wear it in like 30-45 minute bursts, walking the dog, hanging out in the yard, sitting by a fire pit, quick market stop, etc. So in some ways, I think I can probably get like 50 wears out of it in specialized situations. There's no way though I could wear it all day long, getting in and out of cars, being indoor/outdoor, etc. Any sort of exertion is going to make you break a sweat. I think this thing can go sub zero and not even flinch. So it's going to get hot quick. And it's just bulky.

So I guess it depends on what you need the jacket for. If it's like your all day jacket, I wouldn't go B3 unless you live in Greenland.

I have seen your new jacket in person, you will not be disappointed. It was on display to be seen first thing when I walked into the store.

Yes, I have been browsing the Californian and Monarch. It's incredibly well made judging on the photos. I like the Arcadia and Ventura models but leaning towards the Ventura more. it might be off putting to email him before I check with you guys, but can you ask for the false belt to be removed?

I’m waiting for my 1st pattern tanker from Bronson to be delivered, I’ll make sure to keep you updated on the quality. So far with Bronson, i have been very satisfied with their products considering the price tag.

@TooManyHatsOnlyOneHead Many thanks for sharing your B3 jacket experience. I would just need it for colder days but we hardly have colder days (below 0C) here even if the climate is colder than in LA. TBH the B-3 is still my dream shearling jacket as I simply like the overall design more than D-1 or B-6. An option could be a Coastal Command with the yellow hood (@MrProper thanks again....I now remember that I posted a comment in your jacket review thread during Summer when I wasn't thinking about a Shearling jacket ;) and I hope you forgive me if I'm also considering this one...not yet decided).

@Kalmer Thanks for sharing this link and good to know that I can work. I've also contacted ELC in the meantime asking for their advice but still waiting for their feedback. If I really buy the D-1 I'm not sure if I really would risk washing it as the sheepskin looks really good except the shearling on the sleeves and hem.
