How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

Trucker jacket made of russet goatskin will hopefully be on its way soon.

I'll be a bit blunt here which you hopefully don't mind as you voiced very similar concerns yourself already; This jacket doesn't fit you well at all. It's way too boxy for your body shape. Looking at that backshot, I'd say two sizes too large in the waist area. And I do agree with you that this is a design flaw. These CHP jackets should have way more taper. If you look at the originals, they are all very short, hiplength-ish and they all are very tapered, with 4-5" drops from ptp to waist measurements as they ended at the wearers narrow waist. Stus version is longer and sacrifices the taper to make sure it fits around the hips it falls down to. To me this looks like one of these "trying to adapt a vtg design to work with modern trousers raise and botchering the design in the process"-cases. I'm not saying it is not a perfectly well made jacket that may in fact work very well for someone with a more tubular bodyshape than you (for example @El Marro 's jacket looks great on him!), but I do say I personally would not expect nor want this fit from a CHP styled jacket. If I wanted a jacket with this casual relaxed fit, I'd go for a civilian style as the Suburban.

I think you may want to try to get rid of this while it still has as little wear as possible to minimize loss, you won't wear it with owning all these other jackets that fit you so much better.

Absolutely agreed.

@Carlos840 , no doubt this is a brilliantly made, high quality jacket but... I honestly wouldn't be very happy at all if this was the jacket I paid $2000 for. I understand Stu probably have done a spot-on repro of a CHP, which was intended to be worn over uniform or whatever and is supposed to be roomy but... To be honest, I can't think of a single reason why you would ever want to reach for this jacket instead of literally any other you have.

The Himel, for instance, makes you look fantastic & like you're wearing a premium jacket.
This looks like you've picked up something from an eBay at random, haven't bothered with the measurements and figured you'd call it a day.

Don't get this the wrong way, it's not bad bad, it's just... Not even close to what we've gotten used to seeing you wear and there's a lot of money in it.

Body shape aside, looking great in a leather jacket is a huge part of why we pay as much money as we do for them and wait for years and whatnot and in this case, that part's been completely disregarded and ignored. And while I personally don't mind the sleeve length, that's another thing that I believe they botched up completely which is all very weird because this wasn't your first order and LW had your measurements on file. I don't get it how they coulda send you this.

I agree with @ton312 LW should take this back.

EDIT: Oh, sorry, didn't see the outcome of the situation. Glad it's resolved. Great service.

My advice, get something else.

That’s not the one I sent you, right? I recall less taper on that one. Good amount of taper but not this. This nearly is peak Arnold taper. My police issued Cal is like this though. Carlos definitely has the build for it. Most do not.
No this one is shearling lined. With the laces pulled in it goes down to nearly 17” across the waist. It’s too small a jacket for me but it is cool.

Almost didn’t recognize you without the doorway. The beard gave it away. The photos are a little dark and hard to evaluate but honestly don’t look too bad. I see that the matter has been solved but think the fit issues are certainly aficianado level rather than lay concerns.

Bro, did you just say I have a “tubular body shape”?!? If so I can assure you that is not the case although I do appreciate compliment on the fit of my CHP.
I will also concede that I do not have the same taper from chest to waist that Carlos does and I believe that may be affecting the fit of his jacket negatively.
It may not be fair to blame Stuart for this flaw (at least on my jacket) though because I added around 2 inches to the length of this jacket When I ordered mine. His stock version is very true to the originals and it falls above the beltline. I’m sure that makes a lot of sense for a motorcycle policeman riding around on a bike but it’s not a look I wanted for my jacket.

I am torn.

Stuart says he can make a combo, 42 shoulders and arms, but 40 chest.
Thing is i am afraid that this will give me a jacket that looks great, but isn't comfortble.
In this one when driving for example i can feel that i am using up all the spare room in the back and pits when i reach forward. If it was any smaller it would impede reach.

If i do send it back i have to pay shipping and customs again, which adds around $400 to an already super expensive jacket, with no guarantee that i will be happier with the outcome.

I think i might just break this one in fully and see if the "roundness" of the body calms down a bit with time.
It is still very very stiff...

I also can't help but think that the fit of the Chevalier is a double edge sword.
Since posting that jacket i always get people saying "This one doesnt fit as well as the Chevalier", but honestly if the chevalier was made with leather as thick as LW or CXL it would be a straight jacket!
The chevalier works because it is super thin, you can't use it as a standard of fit for every other jacket...

@El Marro do you have front/back fit pics of yours?

Well, i contacted Stuart, he responded in three minutes:

" It can't be adjusted, we must make you a new one. send it back. will take a bit of time"

I didn't even have to lie about things and didn't have to damage my jacket to get a new one... Weird!

It seems many here get different responses from LW. I see a lot of jackets with custom touches or mods from LW and when I inquired I got an immediate no mods response. I am always very polite but just get one word replies and no impression of a want for my money or business so I gave up. I fall between LW sizing as their stock jackets fit me kind of oddly so I was after a jacket made to fit me better but just got refused. I sold both of my LW jackets to hopefully get ones that fit better but no dice. I ended up buying another Langlitz instead but still want another LW.

Some seem to get whatever they want from LW while others seem to suffer. Carlos, looks like you have an in with LW and I am glad they are sorting you out with zero issues and will send you a much better fitting jacket. I will be honest, that one looks a bit odd on you compared to the others you have and what I have seen you wear on the lounge, here.

At the risk of perhaps suffering your wrath later, I can say that mine did become less “rounded” with wear and a few rides in rainstorms. But again, I see this as a more practical jacket and use it with a single purpose in mind- riding with my gear and optional layering without altering the “look” significantly. When I want to pimp out my “form and shape”, I have other jackets...as you say.

That is an expensive gamble...I think the leather togs is your best fit BTW. Granted this is a wildly different pattern. I did expect this to be much more trim from the pits down. It should be quite snug from the solar plexus to the waist, with room in the chest and shoulder.

That's how it went with me but later on I realized it's simply a lottery. I think Stu's often very busy and in the middle of something when responding to emails which reflects in his one word replies so it's best to just call, something most people have had great results with. Because at first all I got was flat out refusal on any mod I suggested only to suddenly have literally everything green-lit couple of emails into the order. In fact, it was just as difficult getting them to reverse a couple of initial mod ideas I had and gave up on.
Sometimes (most times), the replies to my rather elaborate questions would be a single word reply and at other times, though less often, Stuart would take time to explain everything in detail.

All in all, it's nothing personal but it's the kind of realization getting to can be really frustrating. They do make it sound like they couldn't care about your business any less but that's not the case, I believe. And also, I can imagine they get a LOT of inquiries from people who never plan on ordering anything.

This is Just how Stuart works... I am on jacket no4, I still get single word emails, i still get told things are impossible, to then be told the opposite later on..

For example when i ordered my J-23 i asked for a black curly collar.
Stu's answer: "originals were brown, we do them as the originals" i sent him a picture of a J-23 he had made with a black curly collar, his answer: "we don't do that anymore". I was disappointed but i told him it was fine.
Six weeks later i get an email saying "jacket shipped, found a black collar"

Now i just write to him like he writes to me, no hello, no goodbye, no stories, short and straight to the point...
He always answers within minutes, whether it is a question about an order, a LW jacket or just me sending him a randome question about a vintage jacket i saw online.

Working with Stuart is unusual, but once you know how to communicate with him he is pretty straightforward.
I said it before, but if you can you should call, he is the complete opposite on the phone. I have already spent more than an hour on the phone and he never sounded like i was bothering him...

@Colin G , you would be better off calling him to discuss directly your concerns and needs as others have said. I think Stuart is old fashioned regarding this, as I am, I always try to call the makers to discuss my orders. :)

Edit: typo

And you eliminated the side laces, which probably slimmed the jacket down a bit. That looks most excellent on you EM!
JMax,
My jacket still has the laces they are just completely hidden by my arms there. I do have them drawn in all the way. I would also agree with you that this jacket gets a little less “rounded” with wear and use.

Oof! Ahh ehh uhhh! :D

I apologize, please let me rephrase that! You good sir, are certainly in great shape, however you do have a very different physique than C~, who is extremely lean for a man his height and chest size.

Great to see how professionally Stu deals with this by the way, very impressed with his customer service suggesting a return at once!

My mistake. Glad the stock CHP fit you so well. Didn’t someone here eliminate the laces on their build? I was sure it was you.
