Update

Hi,

Since my last update in this thread, not even a month ago, I'm now up to 26 from 22, with number 26 on the hat workbench as I type. I received this one about a week ago and it's now cleaned up with the crown reopened. It still needs a new ribbon - just as soon as I decide on just which color I want to use. ;)

Now, I'm looking at my next victim, er, rebuild project on eBay. It looks like number 27 won't be far off.

This is a danged disease, this hat business is! :eusa_doh:

later!

Stan - I feel the disease. I just purchased two in the past month and am already itching for another. I am still pretty new. Got my first fedora a little over a year ago.

Akubra Federation IV regular in brown
black Penman "Spirit of Barney" - his prototype
Dorfman Pacific w mesh crown I got for summer
Jaxon Bogart in grey
modern Stetson Chatham in brown

now I want to save up for a vintage lid or two and/or maybe a panama.

My Delight!...

This is my hat rack...
100_0381.jpg

At the back door I have an Akubra Stockman, Stetson Three Forks and a Dobbs stingy suede that is a lot nicer than you might first think lol Elsewhere there are a beater Stetson No. 1 OR, a stingy Stetson Sovereign Velour, a Dobbs semi-stingy overwelted and about 4 others for "parts".
Three or four are in transit and I am finally starting to feel quite content in my collection and am going to buy, sell, trade around to gradually improve on it from here :D

Even thirty count
And thanks to all for the appreciative comments.
We loungers and non-lounging hatrons(hat-patrons) tend to get a lot of comments but they range from things like: "Wow! Nice hat!" with a strong unspoken portion of "Weird and freaky!!!"
to all teh silly Indy shots etc.
Here in the lounge is one of the few places where the playing field is level and comments are usually given from a position of knowledge in what they are talking about (Usually ;) ) so they actually mean something.
So again, Thank you all :D

Here's my budding collection so far. Having them all laid out, I feel ridiculous owning so many hats, and my wife tells me the same! Little does she know, I've got two more vintage on the way(a Resistol 990 and a Cavanagh straw), with probably a couple more Ebay purchases within the week. Then I'm hoping my hat binge will be complete...for now!

The hats in order from right to left, front to back:
Cavanagh Seersucker Newsboy
Harris Tweed Newsboy
Akubra Cattleman(Fawn?)
Royal Stetson(dark brown)
Dobbs(gray)
Bailey wool(pinstripe)*yucky*
Churchill Beaver "50"(coffee brown)
Churchill Italian Milan straw
Resistol Beaver XXX Kitten Finish(dark green)

Zanzibarstar / Nate, you could try what I am doing. In order not to upset my partner, I just keep a few. When I see something else that I like more, I just sell the one that is lowest on my list. It makes my collection stay small but still highly prized by me.;) .....Deenis
