Went to the market with my gf this morning. She went dressed 'stop'm dead in their tracks' so I changed in something smart too.
First thing a cuppa in the sun at he town square. The moment I stepped inside to say good morning: 'WOW!! Peter, I like your hat!'
After finishing the drinks we dropped of a bread order at the for here high end furniture & stuff shop where we were both inundated with compliments. At the side of the counter there was a simple, VERY elegant cane/umbrella stand holding one lonely tapered wood cane with inlaid ball. The prices were still in pesetas and even those were docked: I was given both by my gf
Not a nearly proper walking aid though... but that is a different thread.
The compliments were a theme for the rest of the shopping.
Rounding of with another visit to the terrace, the waiter enquired about the hat stand. I took the cane out so he could take a look at the stand. It follows that I was standing aside with my hat on, cane and all. He was literally short for words before he managed to express his appreciation of the appearantly stunning combo of hat & cane.
