Not much style to a Fez. I don't see the attraction at all. And I could never understand how a hat from a region of the world with all that sun doesn't have any brim.

I'm a big fan of the fez, I've got one, but it's incredibly cheap, feels like it may be made out of paper and velvet! I love it though, I like the really stiff ones, I found the ones I like called 'Moroccan' as opposed to 'Turkish' even though they all seemed to have been made in Europe.

I've had my eye on this puppy for a few years; I even tried it on last year. But...

It's pricey and it probably wouldn't see much action, as I rarely smoke anymore. [huh]

Well, I know that forms of turbans involve wrapping it around a tall felt cap. You can see illustrations which show the red or black top of this cap peaking out the top of the turban. Perhaps the fez or tarboush is a holdover of this?
