Early Fedora / Alpine (so called in the US) hats were very similar to Homburgs. They had curled brims of moderate width and tappered crowns of varying heights. What many condsider a Fedora today was also around at that time. Snap brim with varying brim width, tapper and crown height. Later Homburgs (they also evolved over the years) became more of a business hat in both the US and Europe.
