My last entry for tonight is the pride of my collection. I love these 1940s Royal Stetson De Luxes. This one is in particularly good condition and fits like a dream.

2-1/2 inch brim, 5-1/2 inch open crown.

This is not just a visit to the homburg nation, but an invasion! Some gorgeous homburgs you've displayed here, Nathan! Fair warning, but it may already be too late: homburgs are addictive!

I never saw The Dead live, but I do enjoy their music. College was a lot of fun…seems like yesterday and like a lifetime ago at the same time.
I’m the same - I never saw them live. I didn’t start listening until 1993, which is around the time period I’m guessing your photo is from. Then I joined the military and Jerry died while I was overseas.

I actually had tickets to see Dead and Co.’s final concert in Chicago last summer, but my sickness kept me from going. Despite never seeing them, I’m still a big fan.

Glad my comment didn’t offend - some folks might not appreciate being compared to Deadheads. But the college heads I knew were all really switched-on guys, so it was definitely a complement.

Thanks, Stefan. I have a few more worth posting sometime in the near future. And you might be right - I could very well become a permanent resident here!

Black Knox Superfine in size 7 ⅝. It’s a snug fit, but mostly it’s the diminutive brim that turns me off. Too bad as the felt is very nice and the condition is outstanding.

Resistol - R. & M. Wegener "Majestic" "Self Conforming" "Kitten Finish", 58 cm, possibly late 1950s early 1960s. This Homburg Hat was "Made In License In Germany" by R. & M. Wegener. R. & M. Wegener received the license to produce Resistol Hats in 1958. This is a very fine made Homburg Hat and similar quality as branded R. & M. Wegener Homburg Hats of the same time period.

Barbisio Classic homburg in black. Size 56 with the bound brim at 6,5cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. Somewhat sturdy felt with a fantastic hand to it. Not a lightweight at 146 grams. First time I see the "confort" sweatband on a Barbisio. Seller sold them cheap because they had some paint stains on them, which came right out.

Cavanagh homburg in black. Size 55 with the bound brim at 5,5cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. From the liner and the information here this should be from between 1936 and 1945. Even better. At first I thought the sweatband was shot, but it turned out to be a Carter detachable sweatband on this one. First time I've seen one of those.

GL homburg hat in Aubergine. Size 56 with the bound brim at 6cm and the crown at 10,5cm at the center dent. The crown patch suggests it's branded LG instead of GL, but it stands for Galleries Lafayette, the department store that is still in business today. Somehow I think this hat could have been made by Mossant. I bought it for the colour, which is one I've never seen before on a homburg (or a fedora for that matter).

Nice find and wonderful colour, Stefan.

The crown patch is somewhat reminiscent of Willoughby.
