This Mayser Homburg (size 59cm) is probably late 50s early 60s and in great condition.

You must have the most amazing collection of homburgs, and that one is no exception. Some day, if you get time, I would love to see a group photo of yours, although I realize putting what may be hundreds of homburgs in a group may be time prohibitive .

I will have to do that! I am not at hundred but I do have a bunch of Homburgs.

Here's a modernish Stetson. I don't know the exact age.

Two things: 1) Garrett - please go put your homburgs back in their proper place, so when we open the thread we don't see a bunch of white boxes

2) There is a lot of brim variety in Homburgs. Just wondering if you removed the brim binding from one like in the pic above, and added a thin ribbon, would you basically have a pencil-curl dress Western fedora?

I was wondering about this because I've had no luck finding an old dress Western with a pencil curl brim (like Douglas'), so thinking about 'creating' my own.

I don't see why not. The curl might be different but that also varies in Homburgs. BTW originally Homburgs didn't have brim binding.

Also one of the Habig Homburgs posted on this thread has a thinner ribbon. I think it looks great.

Thanks, my 'project' Homburg should be arriving any minute now - the only unfortunate thing is that it appears to be a very old Knox and in good shape, so I might not be able to alter it with clear conscience.

The Homburg is my favorite hat style, bar far. It got me into hats back in 1994 or so. My first was a Flechet, and I still have it except it seems to have shrunk so I can no longer wear it comfortably. For a newer replacement, I ordered a Stetson Homburg from Miller, and it arrived yesterday:

I'll see if I can find some pics of my older Flechet - I love Homburgs with a more curvy brim and not flat like some I've seen.

What an amazing thread. I`ve been thinking of Hombergs for the last month or so.Seems like I keep spotting them in classic cinema and period films and have to admit they are very elegant and classy hats.Not sure if I could pull one off but I would like to try.You folks really blew me away with all of these incredible `bergs.Very nice,indeed.
