Beautiful hat, Stefan.James Robinsons&Sons of Romiley, England homburg in black. Size 61 with the brim at 6cm and the crown at 11,5cm at the center dent. I never heard of this hatter before, but the company was founded in 1880. Could not find out when it closed, but I supect it was out of business by the mid sixties (as most of the Englsih makers were). This one dates from the late fifties to early sixties I believe. Lovely hand to the felt and well finished. It didn't like side pinches dry creased, so I left it without for now.
Romiley is located in the same area as Stockport and Denton, the center of British felt hat manufacture.

Beautiful. Nice to seen this different form, Steve.Mayser "Superbe" possibly mid 1950s. The felt is is very soft and the brim is less stiff so not like a typical Mayser Homburg.
Stefan, Thank you!Beautiful. Nice to seen this different form, Steve.
Ok......here is something I found just yesterday! A BLUE 40's Adam Executive!! AND my size! Hard to capture the dark rich color! Well, I have been wanting a blue hommie for some time......and it has arrived!

Again, beautiful hat.Hückel Weilheim "Derby" possibly late 1950s. Great form and the felt finish is fantastic. Also near mint condition.
Stefan, Super find! I enjoy seeing the old Wool Soft Felts. This one came from a Dutch auction site and basically I chose it because of the low price and the nice looking liner.
"Perfect" homburg in black. Size 57 with the brim at 6,5cm and the crown at 10cm at the center dent. This is an early woolfelt hat, with the basting stitches still in. Not lightweight by any standard with its 164 grams. Later homburg hats were not made of woolfelt (there are exceptions probably), but the label on the back of the sweatband has me thinking this is an older hat, mid to late thirties maybe. Made in Belgium (Bruxelles on the liner), but there are no labels inside the hat.
Thanks, Steve. So do I actually. Probably much more common than furfelt in their day, but so few of them survived.Stefan, Super find! I enjoy seeing the old Wool Soft Felts.
Me too....from another aficionados of wool hatsStefan, Super find! I enjoy seeing the old Wool Soft Felts.
