A few months back I made a hat for a fellow with a size 63 long oval head. He was about to retire and his whole life he had wanted a fedora like the one his father wore. But he could never find one to fit him. On the day he came by to pick up the hat.....upon placing the hat on his head, looking in the mirror, tears rolled down his cheeks. Finally, he had the hat he had long wanted and it actually fit him. Sometimes, custom is the only way to go.
You have done the lords work that day

Hi everyone, I have already posted this in the new hat section so if you wish to delete this, totally understand.

Presenting a custom moss Green fedora from Agnoulita Hats.

The model is known as the coach, although it's not offered at this time (similar hats are available)

The specs are:
- Rabbit fur-felt hat body
- 5 1/4" center dent crown
- 3 5/8" raw-edged stiff flat brim
- 1 1/4" grosgrain ribbon hatband
- Rayon satin lining
- Genuine leather sweatband

My hat has a colour pallet based on a Herbert John Poet, worn by a certain scarf-wearing time traveller (for those not familiar with Doctor Who, Tom Baker had 3 different coloured hats, the second one he wore was Bottle Green/Moss green depending who you ask and which light it's under)

I wasn't going for an exact match, as the original hat has a more "Fluffy" look to it which may draw some unfavourable looks from the people at the footy or in my local supermarket.

Now, I took a bit of a gamble on HNC as I was not familiar with their work before I stumbled across their store on Etsy, I have to say I feel it has more than paid off.

Customer service was excellent, Mr P took me through all the options, even trying to help me work out the best shade of green for the hat I was trying to replicate. Excellent communication and I would certainly recommend them at the price of the hats available, especially as everything is tailored to the wearer's needs as much as possible. The hat came well packaged and with a lovely bag to store it in (sadly the bag had to be used for other things as we lost my pet rabbit a few days later.)

Excellent hat. I've got my eye on something from these guys in future.

Sorry to hear about your rabbit; the one and only real downside I've had with pets over the years has been their lifespans being inevitably shorter than mine. Always hard when they go - in our case, in the last three years we've lost a beloved cat, whom I had from kittenhood, when she was fourteen, and an adored rescue dog whom we had for four, wonderful years. The tears are les frequent than the joy their memory brings now, but its always tough to lose them.

I have purchased several hats from Mr. P over the past 3-4 yrs and they all still look and feel as nice as when I received them. I get more compliments about them than my other hats. One thing to keep in mind is his communication through his website can be lacking but he tends to be more responsive through his Etsy store, in my experience. I find his hats to be comfortable, easy to shape, and have a nice feel in hand.

Useful tip about Etsy and communications, thank-you for posting that.

I've just ordered this one with lots of changes. Hoping for a Christmas delivery but expecting it in the new year. Excited for my first custom hat.

Hello!

I am new to this forum, and my interest in coming here was to ask a few questions about Agnoulita and how their customizable options look for my first hat. Attached is an image containing a list of specs, a rough mockup of what it'll look like (by my estimation), a reference picture, and two crown styles that might work.

I have a rough idea of what I want:

Something stylish, more Western-style, and not too fedora-like. Nothing formal or for nicer occasions, I only really want to wear this hat to keep the sun off my head when outdoors for a while. A reference picture is included, which is what inspired me. In the reference picture, the brim is curled, if that is the right term, upwards, which is not necessary in my case. I like it flat across, but still pencil-rolled.

Questions:

Q1: What is the difference between 6mm and 10m binding?

Q2: Is the chocolate body too dark for something similar to what I have drawn (rather crudly) here? I've noticed a lot of people saying that sample pictures on the website are a lot lighter than finished product. I really just want a darker brown, not crazy dark, but something similar to what I have in the image below.

Q3: How is the rolled sweatband? Any different to the normal?

Q4: Is the brim width selected on the website calculated before or after rolling?

Q5: I would also like a tight grain to the felt, without many errant strands or fuzziness. I read here about pouncing, should I request that when ordering, or is there something else I should request when purchasing?

Edit: Another question: How should I gauge which crown height is best for me? I want to avoid it being too tall, so I'd like to know how to avoid that. Thanks.

Not sure if there's anything missing I should be aware of, I am ignorant to a lot of the process of ordering a custom hat. If there is, please don't hesitate to let me know. Better safe than sorry :)

Thank you all so much for such a valuable resource in buying my first proper nice hat! I don't have the means for it now, but with Christmas bonuses just around the corner I'll be able to splurge on something nice for myself. I'm hoping I'll love it!

Hi Will, welcome to the forum.

I would advise you to use the Etsy store if you have a lot of enquiries.

They are very good at answering questions and in my case, very helpful at deciding which shade would be best suited for my needs.

My hat is bottle green, but if you compare the colour of the website cape vs. the hat when I received it, there are some slight differences in shade. This was was not an issue for me.

I wish you luck in your hat-creating adventure and hopefully, we will get to see the finished item in the not-too-distant future.

Just wanted to take a minute to post some pics to this thread. I previously posted them on one of the "what hat are you wearing today" threads.

As many here have stated, I too can attest to the excellence of Agnoulita hats. I can't add much to what has already been stated other than confirming that all the praise they have received here is well deserved.

I highly recommend adding one to your collection.

Here is my Agnoulita Pandamator.

I have purchased this hat recently from eBay. I believe it is an oatmeal colour, but I am not sure about the colour of the band. I have tried to match it with the website, but as there are many choices, it's between a few colours.

It's the flecked fur, and has a cattleman's crease-style crown. I wonder if the person who ordered it/the seller is a lounger? anyway, here it is. Not sure if this is a long-termer, may move it on in the next few months, but for now.

(pictures are from eBay ad, because the lovely Mountains of America are a much better backdrop than my office in Stoke-on-Trent, UK)
