I’m just concerned that OP spent $3k only to get ripped off, mentioned here that he wanted and was refused a remake, then we have someone here insisting (in the name of OP’s satisfaction) that actually the jacket is perfect; the only one that’s helping is the company. If I were feeling conspiratorial I’d say he’s getting kickbacks.

I don’t think this is the case but obviously OP isn’t satisfied with the jacket.

Good recap.

@Cyber Lip , resorting to personal attack because you do not have what it takes to have a normal conversation with decent arguments is not doing you any favours.

I didn't want to post but the same user keeps pushing the topic of "effeminate" and "ladies jackets trying to be offensive. Maybe you ought to look at the original designs and understand that making a shorter design longer doesn't work. There are cool longer jackets and short ones but If you take a long one and shorten it or take a shorter one and make it longer it doesn't look good.

Here my own jacketS:

Himel Cossack Grizzly: (I love this jacket but unfortunately the sleeves became too short once they molded to my arms and my sleeves peek out and looks bad.

Vintage half belt:

Vintage long half belt

Freewheelers Darius (Sack coat)

What Himel seemed to do with the Imperal of the OP is just add lenght at the bottom and lower the half belt considerably and that is a bad move. Imagine if I chopped off lenght of the cossack, sack coat or the long half belt, it would look ridiculous.

For what it’s worth I like my Himel jacket, are there changes I would improve on, fit wise? Absolutely, but considering I gave measurements from a keyboard vs. measured in person, I think it’s surprisingly good given my different body proportions. I don’t know but I’m assuming he had to draw and adjust every single panel.

I would take the 1930’s pictures with a grain of salt considering that those were tough times for many people and that they might not be the first owner of their clothing, that’s not to mention that these people all have their individual taste just like we do. Many of these old photos showed people with I’ll fitted clothing, I’ve seen that debate on the other forum discussing A2 and flight jackets, particularly some people think that there was one way a jacket should fit, strange concept really.

At the end of the day, this is a $2,600 jacket, that’s 2-3 times what most jackets in this style cost, so the OP should be happy with his purchase. Only as long as he didn’t suggest this kind of fit to Himel Bros then change his mind later, that would be morally wrong.

All said and done some like it shorter and trimmer like Marc, he is fit and tall and it works for him, me I might have it a bit looser so I can gain a few pounds or loose them. It’s all personal, I don’t think we should criticize anyone for how they wear things, unless you are at Walmart, then it’s

The jacket doesn’t look like the majority of fit pictures, then it can look off to most, I would order it somewhere along these lines below

Here are random pictures from Google, I’ve removed faces except for the original maker of the pattern

And so do thousands of bikers and cops. Go tell them they wear ladies jackets.

there's a reason bikers and motorcycle cops wear them like that, and that reason is not because it looks good off the bike, c'mon man you don't know better than your comment suggests?

It's really that simple. You've made a line in the sand here about how this jacket, which was clearly yet another case of a blisteringly-expensive yet half-assed Himel, somehow must be perfect, thus anyone who critiques it must be committed to a specific aesthetic.
ummm, no I did not do or say that, not even close. And I hope you feel good about yourself for making the OP feel just great about his "blisteringly-expensive yet half-assed Himel". Good job

LOL, uh yeah...no. I'd say 'nice try' at your attempts to put words in my mouth, but it was such a half-assed effort. I said I liked his jacket and thought it looked great. If you're going to pretend to quote someone, at least try to get it in the ballpark of what was said, if you want to sound credible. And kickback??...since you were so keen to pour through my posts for all the gems I'm surprised you missed the ones where I was critical of Himel's ordering process, so I'm hardly a Himel fanboi that thinks everything they do is golden. You're batting 0 so far pal. Also, he wasn't "refused a remake". He received a remake, he was refused a '2nd remake'. Big fail overall, try harder next time keyboard karen

is the 1st remake a remake tho? I can't say for sure but somehow to me it looked like the 1st jacket got tweaked and called it a remake, it has all the sign like if you buy XL jacket and then sending it into a tailor to downsized it into size M. All we did just creating noise so if the maker being made aware of it he might consider to make a proper remake for the OP

leather is natural material, what is the chance a remake would crease exactly the same as the 1st jacket, the sleeve creases is exactly the same just more settling in on the 2nd picture, his first jacket was too big and he cinched waist adjuster all the way making puckering around the waist and hip toward the side adjuster, the remake still carry those puckering although the side has been adjusted so he never need to cinch remake.jpg
at minimal the maker should agree to shorten the main zip, rise the front waist band , and readjust the half belt and rise the whole lower rear section up as another tweak so the jacket would work as intended, as it is now it is impossible to sit with the jacket zipped, he can't reach into his jeans pocket with the jacket zipped. it's just working hour, as the photo evidence no material was wasted...

Lol your Himel is 11 out of 10. Better than perfect. An absolute masterpiece.

I know you ordered two more cafe racers from field leathers but I'd be surprised if those will come anywhere near your himel in terms of fit.

Here are random pictures from Google, I’ve removed faces except for the original maker of the pattern
That's funny. John Chapman of course. Then there's Jeo, Jonesy, Superfluous and Thomas.

thanks truly makes me feel good coming from someone with so many nice jackets new and vintage from around the world and in so many different styles. I was lucky because it’s really a roll of the dice even with the best makers.

2 Racers turned into one racer and a one 30’s sport jacket now thanks to more education.
Originally when I came here I was only interested in cafe racer style
But!!!! I’ve been bitten by the collared jackets and now they are all I can think about.
Seeing you guys in dressier clothing with half belts and other collar jackets makes me feel silly, that I’ve been missing out.

I think if the OP gets a remake if he decides to it shows good business practice by Himel and their commitment to a great product.

He’ll be working at Taylor Leather’s if he doesn’t get his act together …
Taylor’s is out of business. It’s straight to HOT LEATHERS if you flunk out of Himel.
Ultimately the OP is not pleased with a huge cash layout for a subpar product. Anyone can see the jacket is off. The design elements and the proportions are bad. This does not indicate that Himel can’t make great jackets. His company obviously can.

What this should do is serve as a warning for those looking to outlay that kind of cash and be aware of the kind of customer support they are likely to receive. If Dave truly believes this jacket is representative of his company and the work they do, it should be posted with the “my tribe” tag on his IG page.
