Himel Bros Imperial Fit

Maybe they did not mean the jacket? ;) lol
You like the fit because you generally like it wider, if I understood correctly from other posts.
You are correct, I do like that fit.

I guess the point I was trying to make is that objectively, they all thought the jacket looked like a perfect fit. Sometimes I think we forget what 99.9% of the population would see as a proper fitting jacket.

FWIW, all happily married women … but not blind lol.

Only on Fedora Lounge can giving a compliment to someone be so difficult lol

@ChienChilla My takeaway is although it could have been better, it is still very good. You need to keep in mind that people in this forum are aficionados and perfectionists. Details like pocket placement are not going to be noticed by 99% of the public (plus the other Himel jackets with similar pocket placements often get positive reception).

In other words, rock this jacket proudly

I used the like button … although I strongly disagree with your assessment of the fit. I wish I had a jacket that fit that well.
Agreed. I like my jackets to fit with a little more room than many here and this one looks perfect to me.
I appreciate @Carlos840 point as well though, a picture only tells us so much about how a jacket really fits and feels on the wearer.

?? are those supposed to be examples of lower pockets? Because I don't think it gets much higher than either example LOL
Exactly such examples I also just had in mind. I personally like much better than the high pockets of the Himel. But well, tastes are different.
Now that you mention it, I actually agree. Both those pocket placements are very similar to OP’s Himel (though admittedly still higher than the GW jackets shared earlier)

If it were lower it would be too close to the handwarmers and all the pockets would all be too close together, and it would look funny.

You said a chest pocket being closer to the handwarmer pockets would look funny because too close together.

In response I showed jackets with chest pocket and handwarmer pockets closer together.

The jacket that @Carlos840 posted has the proper pocket placement IMHO. The first few GWs were off (mine and @Superfluous). I don’t mind it on my jacket, but I’m surprised that Himel is using the original 2014 pattern without the later adjustments. In any case, this is not a vintage pattern- it was created as a contemporary fit, so the Himel website is hype.

I'm seeing it differently

Anyway, as mentioned above my point was about the chest pocket being closer to the handwarmer pockets and the claim that it would look funny. I don't see what's funny about it.

To me these two in particular have fairly similar pocket placements. Wasn't me that stated pockets being closer wouldn't look good (conscious this was another user), however I do think the pocket placements are fairly similar

Hm, $$$ for sure, but I do like the fit on mine. Brown one is custom, black one was bought from a fellow lounger. Not so hard to get the "fit" right if you know what to look at. If a specific pattern SUITS your body type etc. is a question of personal preferences (think A-2 on a round, stocky guy vs. a tall, lean fellow).

As to the chest-pocket: I didn´t realize it is indeed positioned quite high. Never noticed. I see what irritates people, but these things don´t really bother me personally...

The chest pocket is high to be in proportion with and far enough away from the handwarmer pockets. If it were lower it would be too close to the handwarmers and all the pockets would all be too close together, and it would look funny. If the handwarmers were lower they'd be too close to the bottom yoke, which also wouldn't look good, plus you'd have to have shallow pockets if you went that route, so not practical.

I have one of these jackets, and trust me, you want everything to be exactly where it is. It all makes sense. The pocket placements don't look off or weird in person.
the chest pocket can be much further down and it won't disrupt handwarmer pocket bag, usually chest pocket is also very shallow, however I can see why in himel jacket they placed the chest pocket much higher perhaps to avoid creases caused by shoulder and chest movement and twist, so the closer the chest pocket to collarbone the safer it is from being crumpled or creased by all these movements. however I love lower set chest pocket, and crumpled creased and sagged pocket edge is such a cool look on leather jacket anyway

@ChienChilla , take this whole story as a learning experience. I remember someone calling it "school fees". It is also true that most people will not notice any pattern weirdness, so I would not worry about wearing it in public either. Although, I do not buy a jacket for how I think I will be viewed - I would not be in this forum if I were.

Use this to figure out what type of fit you want. As the old saying goes: Build the first house and you know what you want, build the second house and you know how to get it. And finally, the third house is the one you live in.

Also, of note, is that a lot of forum members started with one style of jacket to end up in a very different place. Try cross zips :D

Even when some members go full circle and go back to the style they started with, they generally get a new jacket in line with their newfound knowledge and experience.

In short, wear it, try different styles, figure out where you are and then see where you want to go. That is the fun part! I am personally still exploring all sorts of styles, hides, colours, etc.

I am wondering if we avoided one of those "I have been drinking whisky" rants by himel lol

This was in regards to a white deerskin jacket with the wonkiest of stitchings

There are more examples if you look at his postings

Edit: examples not "ezamples" lol

That rant was a good one, i forgot about that one.

My favourite thing about Dave is the way he does everything: "I make jacket", "I am in the midst of redoing my website" when things go well, but as soon as something goes wrong: "Parker must have screwed that up".

It was the same thing with my Chevalier, when the jacket was made it was "I made that jacket quickly", but when i posted the pics showing the defects, "a new guy must have stitched that one"...
