Whaaat??? Anyway, this is by far my favorite forum and I like the passion of the very nice people here! @dudewuttheheck I love all of your jackets and you do have the most authentic and coolest style here!

Thanks man.

I appreciate the general support from everyone. This really hasn't been my month on this forum haha.

However, the respect and support of many members have kept up my spirits here so thank you all for that :)

Did not mean to sound like that. Virtually all jackets that appear on this forum are pretty much awesome for this reason - they are curated by passionate and knowledgeable people. I would love to have dudewuttheheck's collection. With the exception of the griz. I cannot stand it.

I used to feel the same way about Grizzlies, particularly the big teddy bear style of jacket. That changed when I saw my first hair on hide version though, and I think that Dudes is one of the nicest I’ve seen.

One could argue that it doesn’t really look like a Grizzly :p it’s a lovely jacket but to me it’s just a zipped campus style jacket. Could replace the hair-on-hide with some contrasting black leather panels and the final effect would be the same! A real grizzly’s got to have fur!! :D It’s a great jacket though and most importantly a great pattern, I’ve seen people of different body shapes wearing it and it always fits great.

Personal tastes aside though, I believe everyone should be able to appreciate stuff that is put together nicely even if not their style and comments like it’s an ugly-ass jacket sound childish at best and demonstrate some sort of infancy in approaching this hobby. This is to say that, hang around long enough, and you’ll start appreciate Grizzlies too!

@Mh54480 Eventually made my decision very easy to order a Grizzly (cow fur) posting tons of pics here ;) He seems to be dismissed from this forum here but I'm sure he will enjoy my ugly fit pics as a guest or under a new alias in a couple of weeks :D

So what did you go for exactly in the end... details please! :D

Hair on panels such as these have been made in many different jacket styles in the past, including a lot by fashion brands as well such as this one from Brioni for example

Following up on @Mich486 thought, what does constitue a grizzly after all?

The Brioni would be too much hair for me. After reading this guy's comments I've finally decided to order one (actually yesterday evening) - I'm pretty sure that I'll order one from Thedi in black horsehide, black cow fur, NO fur collar hoping that it looks as good as the one from Himel (I don't mind the missing "Himel" pockets of the Wolverine) - main reason is the lower price and as I like "working" with Theodoros...Himel jackets are so expensive (plus ~25% importy VAT and duty) despite the very good overall craftmanship and quality. I'm sure Thedi offer similar quality jackets. I think I won't receive the jacket before middle/end of September (last order also took about 3 months). I'll keep everyone posted here :) I wished there were more Thedi Grizzly owners here....do you mind posting more sunlight (fit) pics of your Thedi Grizzly? Thanks!!

One thing about Dude's jacket that's overlooked is how elegant its shape and contours are, not even looking at the hair.

The grizzlies are damn cool jackets. There are a lot of cool old Laskin Lamb ads out there to view from the 30s. Seems all types of people wore them; they certainly were not designed for lumberjacks. What was that sub-line called? Boyville or something? Kids wore 'em too.

I am a bit confused here... I thought you liked the Wolverine pattern and that's why it was your main choice budget considerations aside?
These pockets are a key feature of the Wolverine after all

hoping that it looks as good as the one from Himel

What do you mean by this? What makes the Himel jacket look best to your eyes? What are you looking for?

I think it would be good to go back to the start, why don't you tell us what exactly you are looking for? I went through that phase myself as I was initially considering either a Wolverine or LW cow hair grizzly. In the end I went with Thedi leather after discussing the pattern with Theodoros in Thessaloniki. It did take me quite a while to target what I was looking for.

It might be best for you to take some time and think about what you want exactly before placing the order. We would certainly enjoy helping you spec your dream cow hair panel jacket :D
The Rin Tanaka books are also a great source of inspiration :)

Edit: grammar
