Thanks for all the links, Artgirl! Unfortunately, I think a lot of stuff that's listed as "high waisted" is not high waisted by our standards. A lot of those items listed on their sites as "high waisted" only sit right around the model's hipbones and not at the natural waist.

Yeah, I know. Basically I think the White House/Black Market, the J & Company, The Chadwicks and the Joe's Jeans are probably about a 10" rise, now that I look at them. I'm editing my post to remove those from that list and add in some other options I found.

The Faded Glory ones I'm unclear what the rise is but they are the ones Amaranta mentioned and I thought I'd try 'em because they are so cheap.

Blondie, The pants I got from Kim/Nudee on Etsy are great. There was a little bit too much room in front so I took in the front seam just a TAD and they are perfect. The waist, the butt, the inseam length were all great.

Being a super-short person (5'1"), I'd have to have my pants taken up ANYWAY, so I might as well fork up the dough and have them made to my size.

OK, just got my Faded Glory Walmart Jeans today that I linked to earlier and the sailor type didn't work for me as the rise was only a mid-rise at 9" (first two links). The third pair had a 10" rise which sits JUST a squeak under the navel, but I think they look very 40s-esque on and cute with the tie-belt:

This Pair

I'm not taking pics on me at the moment because I'm extremely busy with Apartment hunting and work. I believe at that price it was worth it to have some cute 40s-esque play jeans to live in, though I realize that generally I people are looking for an 11"-12" rise.

I just found two high waisted pants for myself at JCP from American living. One reminds me something you see more in the late 50's early 60's (i think) the others are jeans with two small pockets in front and are longer to allow cuffing, 40's 50's (maybe?) I am only 5 foot 5 inches and htey come at or above my bellybutton. its post pictures but they arent on the website for some strange reason. Best part they where 50% off as well.

Talbots has some nice high-ish waisted pants right now. Can't get links for pics on their website, but here are some item links. The ones with the stars are the ones I think are amazing. I wish I had a body to wear cigarette pants!

In my opinion, nothing beats a pair of vintage sailor pants! I love em because they have an adjustable waist and if you get them pre-1970's, a nice wide, straight leg! You can still find them out there on Ebay and Etsy at a variety of prices. I found this WWII pair at an auction this past winter.

Here I am wearing, first. the grey jeans from Freddies, and then the slim side zip pants made by Khakis and Co.
The second pair I got from BJ's wholesale club, and they fit so well, I've bought them in 3 colors, grey, black, and navy denim. I can't find a link on line to them , but if you live in New England, and shop at BJ's, look for them. They don't look like much in the store, and I nearly passed them by. They are labeled slim & trim legging.
