It was filmed on a beach in Devon for a BBC Drama-Doc called D-Day 6:6:44.

This is the Capa/beach landing bit. The production company wanted me to film (on my 1930s Filmo) a combat cameraman’s perspective of the landing. I ran (well tried too) off a real landing craft with 30+ FIT Royal Marines. Call me mad, but after the sequence was finished (and while floating in the water) I opened up the door of the camera to purposely fog the film... gave it that really nice "end of reel feel"... This sequence got used in the ad for the programme and also the programme....also shot stuff on a 35mm Eyemo.

You can see more of my stuff (and me) in Episode 7 of Band of Brothers...

Cheers,
Seimon

Ohh yes... uniform and gear all mine.

Eyemo, very cool! You wouldn't have a link to the ad or the ad itself, would ya?
Looks great.

The final cut had so much CGI.. looked pretty good though... but then again It did have a £6000 000 budget....

Yep:) ...Two scenes, the interview in the forest and the sequence with sniper and GIs singing on the 88.

Totally awesome experience. I didn’t know what they’d used from my vintage Filmo until I saw it on TV.
