Hemp straw Milan-weave fedora?

I just won this last night (this morning) on eBay, $67. Once again, I plunked down some coin on it because it had least 3 attributes I crave: 1) my size (23") 2) my style (stingy-brim 60s fedora; brim is 1.5"), and 3) fabric-finished edge. This looks a lot like my one of a kind Thomas Begg (a fur felt), late 50s, early 60s. I dig the Milan weave. And hemp? I know Borsalino makes a hemp straw right now, but I didn't know they used to make them. Did they used to be more common? Makes a lot of sense, hemp straw being so strong and all. Downside: no leather sweatband. I reckon the fabric band must be hemp too. We'll just see about that. I particularly like this style with a large oval center crease which is poked up at the center. It looks like the brim might need some work. Anyway, I'm pleased :D

Nice lid...

I really like the Milan weave hats, though I prefer a bit more brim. There are so many color choices for both bodies and ribbons it's easy to complement most summer outfits.

Nice Stingy Straw

That ribbon gives it a nice splash of color. It looks like the straw is a coffee or cocoa color. I, too, prefer a wider brim... my face doesn't work with a stingy. I like non-leather bands in my summer hats. Try it for a while before you decide to change it.
I just took the plunge on my first Milan. I should have it in a few days. I'm excited to see this thing.

Anyway, nice lid, and nice price, Adam.

Nice hat

Your buy convinces me that prices have really jumped up on eBay. I have a beatiful almost new (call it mint) 50s vintage resistol milan hat in the same color as yours but a 2 inch brim, super condition with a leather band that had no marks. I paid 10 bucks last year plus shipping. The seller wqas the sisters of mercy or some such religious org. Guess I was just lucky no one else bid on that one.
