Help Me Finish This Hat

Okay, gentlemen, I need your collective creative wisdom. Some time back I posted how I'd won a black velour Stetson Royal Deluxe -- an alpine model, complete with centre dent, rope braid, and feather. Well...

I got creative. Removed the braid and feather, stretched it a size, and reblocked it as a Bogey C-Crown fedora. Voila:

I'm quite pleased with myself -- never blocked a hat before. I had to soak it, pretty much -- steam wouldn't do it.

Now: what to do about the hat-band? It's a VERY velour-like finish -- might be a bit too fluffy for a ribbon? I mean, I did find these velour hats online, which are similar (if horrendously expensive):

They seem to use a variety of bands. I'm thinking this might make a nice travel hat, if I added a leather band. (It's unlined.) For instance, this original Stetson band on ebay:

What do you think?
