I picked this jacket up recently at a vintage clothing store in Sherman Oaks. I'm thinking it's from the 1970's or 1980's based on the label. Can I get a little help?
Wow, that's a nice civilian A2/M422a hybrid. Looks a bit like David Starsky's jacket. I like it very much, especially the cuffs. Is the outer shell made from goatskin and is the collar synthetic or mouton?
Tag and fleece say 70s early 80s to me. I notice that this type of label, old looking continued through the 60s and 70s, until they changed a lot in the late seventies eighties.
I bought this at a local thrift store a few months ago. The leather is stiff and heavy like horsehide/steerhide. It looks 60s, but the leather feels 40s early 50s. That's a nice A2 civvie, but I couldn't help but notice your 'rack'. Those color coordinate thingies for ties are a riot.
Hey there I have a jacket as well but my label has been the only one i have seen, it is made of goat skin, real old school...mine has been said to be from the 1970's, this one I have seen linked to the 60's, could be wrong, though I do know, it is a very popular collector's item
You planning on selling it? Or wearing it? If you're not selling it, just enjoy it. Don't worry too much about trying to appraise it for collector's value, or authenticating the production date.
Does your jacket have an inside pocket? On some Golden Bear jackets, there is a label inside of the inside pocket that shows the stock number, production date, and type of leather.
