I'm definitely a long oval, based on how my head fits into standard hats. Since there isn't one set standard for what defines each category, (only various guidelines of which the one above is but one) I couldn't say whether I'm just a Long Oval, or an Extra Long Oval.

I feel that i am a 7 long oval. I know for sure I am a 7 but I say LO because the few LO hats I have fit far better than plain 7s. But I've had no professional hatter tell me as much.

M.V. you don't need a tailor to tell you your trousers are too tight. If the LO fits better it would follow that it is a better fit.;) The (limited) poll results seem to indicate that those of us that have had the opportunity to compare
R and LO, or in my case R,LO and ELO find we are in the majority indeed. Welcome.

I consider myself to be DOH
Diagonal oval hatwearer.
If I put a hat on to where it feals correct, the front is a good amount to the right of "top dead center".
Not a problen to simply straighten it a bit for quality fur hats (they conform quite well),
but doing that will make a straw brim go a bit "wonky".

A bump and clarification. Wide oval=Short Oval
Oval = Regular

I promise to write the next poll sober. I've tried to edit but it seems that isn't possible.

Where's the fun in that? There's a category missing, though, to which I would belong with my extra long oval at 63cm. -- Martian.

Bump. Being a 7 1/4 LO, found that with a little padding I can pull off a 3/8", which widens my horizons. My custom head shape from Mike at NW has allowed me to craft some hard foam and wood hat shape blocks which helps nudge a regular into my egg shaped noggin. It seems there are quite a few 7 1/4 sized folks floating around the FL.
