I'm sure we passed a law back in the 70's banning all Hawaiian shirts from Australia. Maybe Tasmania still allows them....they're like that in Tasmania.
Hey! We don't knock your Vegemite, beetroot on burgers, piefloaters, or Skippy Meat...so lay off our shirts...especially
since many we wear are worn with lids from Down Under ;) lol

Well, maybe some shirts should be banned. Here's my contender with an AKUBRA:

Goose...good god man! Vegemite is a vile potion inflicted on poor Aussies by your own James L Kraft. Ok an Aussie created the stuff, but Kraft owns it now and I hold Americans responsible for its continued existence! (and right now the Aussie heretic squad is zooming through the streets to my home...If I don't return tomorrow you'll know I've been 'disappeared').

But I do take your point about the Akubras worn with the shirts. They still scare children and small animals but the lid does salvage some class.

Lolly: You have seen through my attempts to distance my home from the aesthetic insult that is the Hawaiian shirt. You're right....it could almost be called the Qld shirt in Oz.

I blame the Big Pineapple - and Kmart!

I'm "Un Australian" too I prefer Promite to Vegemite.
I do however have a soft spot for "big things" (I mean the big pineapple those with dirty minds should go home & wash their psyches out).

In keeping with the Aussie theme, that shirt reminds me a little of Ken Done. And what the heck is wrong with beetroot on a burger with the lot? It is fantastic! It's like gros grain on a fur felt fedora... beautiful. Personally I don't mind 'em but I don't own a Hawaiian shirt. But hey, my name's not Magnum.

I'm thinkin' Goose ate that burger with beetroot (and pineapple and fried egg too in good Aussie tradition!)....

...then threw it up all over that shirt.
lol lol lol

I thought pineapples were only in Hawaiian burgers? I've never eaten one with the lot with pineapple before. Seriously, there's a burger joint in Melbourne called Grill'd that serves a Mighty Melbourne burger with beetroot and a nice sweet herb mayo - mmmMMm. Anyway, I'm waaaay off topic.

Hello. I've been a long-time looker, but this is my first post:eusa_clap

Welcome to the lounge, Jkid. BTW, nice ax you got there. Are you really a lefty or is that just the way the photo came out?

Ha, many thanks, those are japanese inspired Aloha shirts...the first has the Japenese family crests-type design (round symbols), the second has Goldfish...glad you like them...

Well, given I stumbled upon the thread...here I'm sporting a German-made Hawaiian shirt bought for 10 Euros in a second hand shop with self-rebashed Panama Bob toquilla hat, awaiting a bus in a nice place called Paleochora, on the island of Crete, Greece.

The iced coffee was excellent. So was the weather in May 2009.

I have a Biltmore that looks just like that one and I love it. A very soft and comfortable hat. Looks good either dressing up or dressing down. Looks good on you.

It brings a little tear of joy to my eye when I see this one back on page one. Thanks IC and nice look. But I still can't figure out why 'speedos and straws' never caught on.[huh]
