There's only so many Aloha shirts you can have before it becomes predictable. Your Samoan shirt is just so enviable. The patterns look like they should be indigenous symbols, I hope they are, but what really caught my eye is the spearpoint collar, I love it, and I like the washed, yellow colour too. Got yourself one beautiful shirt there.

I'm glad you like it, I could hardly believe what I had found.

I had the good fortune to visit the Samoas (American and Western) back in the early 80's so this brings back nice memories for me.

And yes, I love the collar especially. :D

That is a hand stenciled/painted shirt, and odds are the stencil was drawn and cut by hand as well.

I lived on Niue Island for a time and a local Tongan gent was very skilled in the process. I gave him money on occasion so he could make shirts, pillow cases, table clothes, etc., for the local villagers. His work was highly sought after.

You scored a great Samoan "Talofa" shirt.

Thanks for that! So, it's literally a Samoan version of the Hawaiian "aloha" shirt?

Cool

Love that shirt! Both the color and the print.
Search for: "Alexander Henry, 'Bewitched,' fabric." They have some great fabrics depicting pin-ups. This is the bewitched fabric:

One of my shirts always gets the "where did you buy it?" question. It's a naughty but nice nudes, discretely hiding the lady bits.

On the: "Black Fedoras, love 'em or hate 'em thread, there's something of an opinion that black is boring. This black Susquehana is going to a wedding in a few months time. My wife is having a black & white hat made for the ceremony, her finished hat will have a black & white feather adornment, the milliner is making me a matching feather for the black fedora's hatband. (not the one shown in the photo.) There are a few colours that I wouldn't wear, but black is not one of them.

Those magnificent men in their flying machines, that's the title of an amusing movie, released in 1965, it was also the name on the fabric of this shirt. Tina couldn't resist it, we both love that film, it's one of those movies that gets rolled out every year over the Christmas period, just in time to keep the kids, and big kids like me, amused.

Love the movie and that shirt! The hat of course, is the icing on the cake.

It's a sad day for my wife and I. Nyna is retiring, she has run Barkcloth Fabrics in Hawaii since 1987. https://www.barkclothhawaii.com/
She is offering some considerable discounts to sell off all her stock. We will miss her, although I think my missus will stay in touch on a friendship basis. So, one last shirt from Nyna's fabrics, the fabric that Tina's has ordered is that of a wide leaf in a mix of dark and apple green. I shall probably get the finished shirt on Christmas day.

The UK, like the rest of Western Europe, has been battered by a strong weather system. High winds, torrential rain, flooding, you name it, we've had it. Today, however, the sun has got his hat on, it might be a weak sunshine but it's a welcome relief from the stormy weather of late. When I put this shirt on Tina got my subtle message immediately. Whenever you see a news report of the hurricanes that batter the Caribbean Islands, you almost always see palms trees bending in the wind. So it's palm trees and woodies, although I think that the surf boards are a tad optimistic.

The fabric for my new shirt arrived today, I shall team it up with a pair of black baggy 1930's style pants, a black fedora and a pair of my favourite Oxford shoes. Despite a wardrobe full of Aloha shirts, I'm always like the proverbial kid at Christmas, excited like a child.

At the wedding that we are going to in the New Year, I shall wear something formal for the ceremony, I've been asked to wear my Zoot suit, but there's another outfit that I want to wear. In the evening I shall wear this outfit, that's if Tina has made the shirt in time, she's got her work cut out making the bride's wedding dress.

Santa didn't forget. The above fabric magically morphed into an Aloha shirt. But also, in the same package, a ready made shirt from Chester Cordite, how I love that name. The latter I wore to our Christmas Day meal, we dined out with a group of friends, then when we got back home Tina asked me to try the Aloha shirt on, it's been on ever since. I love it.
