I looked up Stonum Bros., Gainsville, TX and it appears they were into marketing tricks even in 1890/1891 using vertical ads and ads using a lot of white space so their ad would stand out on the page.

Also 1948...usually you see these from hatters...not from bars. Now I went full Bob Hufford on this one as it intrigued me.

Circa 1880.......get your groceries and buy a hat too! Reminds me of the places in Wisconsin where you can buy a shotgun and /or a rifle, ammunition, whiskey & beer, AND a loaf of bread and a gallon of milk.
