This arrived today. It’s just a bit tight so I’d say it fits true to size. No labels behind the sweatband. It’s a bit snug so it will be moving on.

It was ending while I was on vacation, so I threw out what I thought was a modest bid (because I might have also impulsively ordered a ukulele) and didn't try any last second shenanigans, but turns out I was the lone bidder so it went for the princely sum of $85. Size 7 strikes again.

OPS tagged 3x from Denver Dry Goods. Frustratingly, I haven't yet found a model name match, despite there being OPS era Denver Dry Goods catalogs uploaded here. It's similar to The Yearling and features what is described on other hats as a "pre rolled brim." Crown height is 5 1/2", 3 1/2" raw brim. Embroidered Last Drop with onionskin liner. Whoever stamped the blocking tag didn't quite have that attention to detail, can't read the first digit (maybe 7?), but ends in 32.

Great one Jared, I always associate those dimensions with a ‘Laloo’ style hat, and I’ve typically found block 322. Among skinny ribbon Stetson westerns anyway

I had to get rid of a couple hats to make room for these beauties. A whippet I only owned for about 2 weeks (not really my style) and a rare 7xCB 6x3 3 ply western (too big, large 5/8 size). I don’t think I’ll have regrets, because both of these fit great and the LD is a close replacement to the 7x.

I’m putting the Laloo style as early 40s and the 6x3 as mid to late 40s, but they could be closer in age then I think. Got them both off eBay less than a week apart, at very reasonable prices IMO. Both needed just a quick brushing and steam, and they’re ready for several more decades of use. Another huge thanks to my pal Jesse for the tip on these, they quickly became new favorites.

I found this beauty on Facebook marketplace. You can tell the open crown has never had a crease in it. It doesn't say Open Road anywhere on the hat, but the dimensions match an early OR. 2 3/4" brim and a 5 1/2" open crown. The hat liner and size tag suggest it is from the 1960's to 1970 before the Stevens acquisition. The hat is pristine except for some moth wounds. It's a 7 1/8 and I'm a 7 1/2. I'm trying to decide if I want to have it sized up by Jaxonbilt or see if anyone in the Lounge wants to trade for a 7 1/2 OR.

Doesn't say Open Road because it's not. There's debate about whether the 3ply band OR as listed in some prewar catalogs ever existed in reality, but that would have been a 30's/40's hat.

I never said mine was an Open Road, but all the specs are the same. Oppenheimer wore a pre-war 3 band ribbon OR, if I remember correctly. No worries.
