Home and enjoying a pour from a Surley growler.

I met the liquor store delivery in the driveway just before dinner and opened a newly arrived Guinness.

I was enjoying another pour from the growler after some wood chopping.

I started a fire in one of our fire pits to burn off some fallen limbs and to enjoy the fire's ambiance. Using a phone app I actually see Jupiter. Cheers!

Great beer and value in purchasing a local brewery's growlers. I continue to enjoy the evenings fire.

Agreed. I have been using an app on my phone "Sky Tonight" to identify the things in the sky I see. It is very enjoyable and I have been learning tons.

Early morning Costa Rican coffee (Caribou light roasted).

I cleaned up limb debris from last nights fire and the smoldering ashes reignited. I am watching my fire late morning sipping a Surley Mapping the Multiverse Hazy IPA. Oat malt w/wheat hazy IPA was delicious for the task of watching and a bit of raking.

Brunch with a Founders All Day IPA.

Yesterday I tried a Samuel Adams Wicked Hazy IPA. I have read a lot of hype about this having a grand aroma, packed with fruit taste and easy drinkable. It is easy drinkable and tasty. For me it is pleasurable, but nothing special. Solid, but no particular standout feature.

Tonight I have been on a walkabout with my local brewery (Surley's) hazy beer. This has the sour IPA'd grapefruit taste I enjoy. A great start to an evening.

Just a reflection: Yours and others tequila posts frequently have me looking up the tequilas to try one out. I need to commit to a try. Additionally, I have never smoked a cigar (or cigarette or pipe) and after watching Arnold I have been thinking that would be a worthy try before I pass on. My nose can instantly recall my Dad's pipe tobacco smell when I recall the memory of it. I remember Half and Half, Sir Walter Raleigh and Velvet as being on his working desk. They sat on a stainless steel tray. Tampers, cleaners and wooden stick matches all were on the same tray. My Dad would quote Albert Einstein when we boys or grad students hanging about would ask about pipe smoking, “I believe that pipe smoking contributes to a somewhat calm and objective judgment in all human affairs.”

In full disclosure Arnold & a former NBA player whose identity escapes me at the moment, are partners & own Lobos Tequila. After cutting a cigar I have dipped the cap end into Scotch (& seen others do similar) before lighting it. You get the flavor from your drink the first few pulls but it dissipates rather quickly. You can only dip the cap once or twice without getting it soft & messy, ruining the cigar. I have never brushed the leaf wrapper with Cedar strips dipped in my drink, or rolled the cigar thru the drips on a prep board. I doubt that adds much, especially the Cedar & would consider that just part of the ritual.

There is a learning curve to both pipes & cigars that comes thru experience. If you've gone this far in your life & just have it on your bucket list, I would probably advise against cigars without some research & guidance from a trusted friend. Pipe tobacco, not so much.

And stay away from Red Man Loose Leaf Chewing Tobacco in the foil pouch (don't ask). Nothing wrong with Tequila though.
