Another beautiful 60F sunny day here. Had to get out of the office for a little ride and stop by a patio for a brew. A local Golden Ale for the golden sunshine today

It warmed up well into the 50s in Denver today, but instead of having fun I spent my time in the sun working broken water pump bolts out of a Ford V8 in a van with a hammer and cold chisel.

Tonight relaxing and sipping a Lift Bridge Barrel Aged Imperial Stout. I got home a bit ago and have opened this beer to have the first taste. My expectations are high as my beer friends give it high praise.

Oh boy I like it! The brewer's website sites the following "it is a viscous, voluptuous monster of an Imperial stout that conjures memories of Italian Amaro and the finest chocolates." I concur! It is delicious. The Imperial Stout is 10% ABV so it is decidedly a sipping Stout.

This Stillwater, MN beer is a rich stout. From what I have read the Imperial Stouts are stronger versions of the original stout style brewed by the British to withstand the rigors of export to Russia and the Baltic states. The style was revival-ed by a British brewer, Samuel Smiths, in the early 1980s.

If it is available in your neighborhood, try it.

Ahhh when you post up the pic of a hat Blue Moon, I can vividly recall the taste of Blue Moon. My beer frig has none. I will have to remedy that on my next trip.

Was going to do a live stream of me drinking a Guinness from the Celtic Pub, but then realized I don't know how! Should have taken the time to unbox my Derby but it was a spur of the moment to go, so I just grabbed my MBCD.

Upon tabbing out I noticed they have a bottle of Don Julio 1942 so I will be going back soon.

Yesterday I was gifted 2 bottles of Rock Town Bourbon along with a magazine article about the distillery in Little Rock, AR from our very own Bartender & contributor to this thread, Rusty @RBH (thanks again, Rusty)! This is Bourbon and not corn whiskey or moonshine as it is 56% corn, 34% rice, 10% malted barley & aged 19 to 24 months in new charred oak casks. Rock Town Distillery is known for using different malted barleys & grains with the corn. Until reading the article I didn't know that Arkansas was the leading state in rice farming. One bottle is Apple Pie flavor & the other is Peach. More to come when I sample each in the coming days. Thanks again Rusty, for a most generous surprise! I'll be returning the favor.

Congrats Jack. The generosity of Rusty is grand. In the dictionary under generosity is the synonym magnanimous. Magnanimous is showing or suggesting a lofty and courageous spirit. Oh yea, the Rock Town is a truly a spirit! Ok, I suppose a spirit of courage!

I opened and have been walking outside sipping a Guinness Foreign Extra Stout. The foam head and lacing are substantial. I think it is a stand-up Guinness beer. After nearly finishing this glass I will go and pour an Old Rasputin Imperial Stout to compare.

Unfortunately my late evening pic turned out to be blurry. I edited it to black and white making it the best it could be. Darn!

My road trip continues with a very quick stop at Singlespeed Brewing Company in Waterloo IA. Truly one of the finest in both beer and food. Enjoying a Double Doughnuts spiced oatmeal stout. Grabbed their Amish Pretzel s to keep up with the ABV.
