My road trip continues with a very quick stop at Singlespeed Brewing Company in Waterloo IA. Truly one of the finest in both beer and food. Enjoying a Double Doughnuts spiced oatmeal stout. Grabbed their Amish Pretzel s to keep up with the ABV.

Wow. I will keep that in mind when I head off to Waterloo later this spring. Those pretzels and beer appear tasty!

HH with my No.1Q & started out with a couple of GC 2-Pulls, finished with a Stout for desert. I love this hat.

My kind of desert. Jack your hats is on a dry and tidy bar. I tip my hat in the direction of your bartenders and their establishments. I am very careful as my experience of tidy has been different in the last months that I have been paying attention. Cheers.

Tonight I joined my wife in having a Deschutes Haze IPA. I strolled with my dog to the lake front and back. He barked at the "squatters," what I call the ice fishermen, on the lake. We sat for a while and watched what I think was the appearance of the Northern Lights and with clouds coming through we headed back inside. Nice change, the IPA, but I miss the stout/porters. Another evening.

@Eric SBG

I've been cataloging shot prices on Don Julio 1942 that I know serve it.

$12 for a free pour based on 1.5 oz, $24 for a double

Local Tequila bar charges $19 for a free pour single

$28 for a measured 1.5 oz shot

I figure they get just over 25 shots @ 1.5 oz per 750ml. That's over $400 per bottle.

Glorious hat and beer pics. As to the Don Julio, I do not fault the bars for making some money, but some go too far. What to learn from your efforts - far better to buy for home use than sample at the bar.

Interestingly, the above is the kind of recognition that pushed me into buying some whiskeys for home, rather than sampling them while out and about. It doesn't hurt that I have enjoyed the sampling.

This evening I have been sipping some Yamazaki. It is grand. To date I do not have any tequilla.

Having some Lagavulin 16 while working on a vintage Whippet tonight.

Well prepared for some extended efforts I say.

This has been a big weekend for growlers with all the specials for Super Bowl weekend. This morning I'm enjoying a growler filled with Bennie Oak Aged Mocha Stout by Logboat Brewing. Uses roasted Fretboard coffee & coffee beans with a couple of types of cacao nibs. Aged in Oak casks adds flavors of caramel & vanilla for a profile of coffee & dark fruit up front followed by a bit of sweetness in caramel, chocolate & vanilla in the aftertaste. Slightly dry, foamy head disappears quickly from a growler. 9.5% ABV, seems like it would go great in the early morning with oatmeal since I've been on a brown sugar maple oatmeal kick lately.

The hat is my 1989 Kevin O'Farrell 3x6 Rancher. Hope everyone who enjoys football has a great Super Bowl, Super Stogie, Super Beer, Super Snacks day!

The Bennie Oak Aged Mocha Stout sounds delicious. This is the time of year for Imperial Stouts. I am reminded I need to pick up a refill growler this week.

Enjoying a Founders Breakfast Stout and Borsalino Colombo at the start of the Super Bowl.

Looking like a defensive battle so far!

Ahhh, a Breakfast Stout. Tasty sipping beer.

Beautiful 70F evening, so cooking out and watching the big game outside. A little Hill Country German Style Alt beer from Altstadt and the Whipple.

Go Chiefs !!

Cheers sir. Warm and a cool German Alt beer sounds like a great combo.

Drinking Siete Leguas Blanco out of hand painted hand blown Tequila double shot glasses with bull fight scenes. Wearing a Stetson 100.

Jack you do drink classy.

This evening I have been walking around the property with the dog sipping yet another Guinness. Tommorow I need to refill my beer refrigerator with some other porters and stouts.
