Home for some GlenDronach 12 Highland Single Malt.

The good news is the antibiotics are done and I can have a drink. The bad is they didn’t work enough. Gotta go in for surgery. Oh well, we tried. Having a horn of Laphroaig in a skully bottom glass the wife picked up. The Gannon Highwayman sitting on one of my antique Singers. This one in particular a 66-16. These machines, similar to hats, need to be kept separate at night. They will breed when nobody’s looking and you’ll end up with more than you know what to do with.

Oh, it’s no big deal HJ. Severely infected sinus behind my right cheek. I’ll be in and out of the hospital in a day. I haven’t been to the doc this frequently since I broke my neck though, it’s really annoying. I appreciate your concern and thoughts brother. As far as the glasses; they’re cheapies. I think she picked them up at Home Goods. She thought they were cool and I agree. Nothing special though.

Struck out for HH under my Knox American Royal Arminto clone. Been a few yrs since I drank a Sol Mexican Lager. Still mild with a fuller mouthfeel than most other Mexican Lagers, but the yeast & cereal grains that make for that doughy fresh baked bread taste didn't seem as strong as I remember. Probably my tastebuds because it still has that nice lingering aftertaste like potato bread. A good change of pace.

Had the chance for a double pour of La Gritona Reposado Tequila. Nice strong nose & palate of blue agave for a Repo. Some vanilla & ground black pepper, oak & earthy vegetal flavors. I will buy a bottle for more.

Tonight I headed out on a walkabout sipping a Eliot Ness (Great Lakes Brewing Co., USA). This lager beer is truly tasty tonight. Smooth, malty with nutmeg and alspice flavors. Smooth easy drinking 6% abv beer. The camera flash washed out the light brown hue of the beer.

"Admittedly, it’s a bit of a paradox to name our Amber Lager for history’s most famous agent of prohibition. But it’s a smooth, malty (and dare we say, arresting?) paradox," as characterized on the Great Lakes Brewing website.

I headed in quickly. While the temps are 31'f the winds at 31 mph make it feel nippy.

I love the Knox, and even though I love microbrews am a sucker for a good Mexican lager every now and then, especially when it's hot outside.

Thanks! I went thru my file pics & found a couple that show the Arminto underbinding.

It has a beautiful embroidered liner like no other Knox.

Stetson sold a version of the American Royal also. This Knox was made for the exclusive Saddle and Sirloin Club in KC. A couple of us have been working trying to document both versions but info is hard to come by.

At home with my Washer Bros Stetson Shady Oak Farm Amon Carter in 3X, &'a few relaxing drams of Dalwhinnie 15 Highland Malt.

Mainly citrus on the palate with green apples, pears & maybe some lemon peel or lemon zest. Not tart but almost white wine like.

I much prefer the GlenDronach 12 Highland Malt with its figs & raisins, nuts & dates, molasses on both the nose & palate. It wins in a head to head in my book.

Yesterday early evening I got home and enjoyed a Surley brewing pilsner. It was a terrific way to unwind.

I grilled up a salmon steak and asparagus for breakfast and made a Greyhound. The Hendrick's Gin we have in the cupboard has been sitting untouched for a looong time. Excellent combo with the fish meal.
