Thanks for the review Jack. Curious about the bourbon. I did try a small glass of Blanton's Single Barrel Bourbon last weekend at a friends. I did not enjoy at the first sip, but it grew on me.

Best way to branch out is to find a bar with a good selection where you can try whiskeys by the drink before buying a bottle. Decide what kind of distilled product you will most likely like best, then work thru some of the premiums. Examples: if you like spice then try Irish whiskey, less spice try Rye, etc. Want something milder than Bourbon try Canadian, etc.

Margaritas are something I've eased away from over the years; can't say why. A spot where they are served with a shaker of refills; I'm back in.
I don't drink many Margarities either; too much sugar, calories, etc. But sometimes I'm just burned out on beer, even Mexican beer. And to get a couple ozs of their better Tequila is ~$13 a shot. I always have better at home so lately I have a Margarita or two with my meal then drink the better Tequila at home.

Thanks for the sage wisdom sir. I have a bar reservation at a fancy-dancy bar who proudly advertises lots of whiskeys/ryes. An uber ride and an evening sipping is upcoming.



It is a Sunday evening after a day of work and I finally found myself finally home and wearing a different Cordova Cap. A choice of cap and imbibing a Founders Porter beer is to me a perfect indulgence this cool Fall evening. Cheers cap folks.

I haven't posted up this Stetson 4X Skinny yet but was working on it this afternoon, it had dried & so I wanted to wear it out to Happy Hour for the first time. The first 3 pics are pretty accurate for color; I would call it wheat. Early Last Drop stencil under onion skin, but I'll do a post up later. Enjoyed a couple of Duke Pale Ales & filled my growler with their Broadaxe Stout ($5) for Halloween night.

Dave Pickerell, former Maker’s Mark master distiller and the creative force behind such whiskey brands as WhistlePig, Metallica’s Blackened, and Hillrock Estate, passed away on November 1, 2018 in San Francisco.

With his signature wide-brimmed hat, huge smile, and warm embraces, Pickerell was both a beloved and a legendary figure in American whiskey. A 1978 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he played football, he later went on to earn a master’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Louisville. That expertise led him to a position at Maker’s Mark starting in 1994; for the next 14 years, he oversaw the creation of the Kentucky bourbon just as American whiskey was slowly emerging from a period of low demand.
