I saw that too. Could be mistaken but it seemed more like an actor just running his hands over some hats than a real hatter - but the spot was shot well and obviously in some hatter's facility. At the end, the 'hatter' in the spot dons something that looks like a wool trilby with the brim down all around and heads out of the scene. [huh]

Well, they do have to make him look like a regular down-to-earth old guy with a truck and maybe a boat, not some snap-brimmed eccentric dandy who lives in the ooky part of town with a crazy cat lady and a houseful of bizarre junk.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did have an actor stand it but I would love to visit the shop and workshop where they shot this commercial.

Yeah sorry...[huh]

Not to say they didn't film on location... Having not seen the commercial I don't know. They wanted a lot of stuff that I wasn't able to send... too big costly and irreplaceable.

If you're advertising to the American Association of Hot House Bohemians on Antiques Roadshow, why sure. The AARP on CBS Evening News is another thing.

There are also reasons you don't use cats in ads (to address crazy cat lady). One is that more people own dogs than own cats, tho there are more cats by raw numbers. Another is that more people hate cats than hate dogs.

Yeah. But still, it's good to get the hat word out...if I recall, at the end of the commerical the gent says "everyone should have a hat". Or something to that effect. Then he does indeed put on his lid with the rear of the brim turned down :eusa_doh:

What the heck, any press is good press. Usually.
