Great idea! I have several of those portable closets already. Both of these can easily be had from The Container Store which is where I bought my portable closets. I have been storing my hats in extra large square hat boxes but this is a good idea for mens' hats that cannot be folded. To repel moths, you can spray it with cedar spray.

Yeah, I kind of know the feeling: Last night a genius - today a polystyrene head! The only sound advice I know is to go a little easy on the draftbeer. Cheers ... and welcome to the lounge ;)

I've been looking for luggage for carrying hats while traveling. While you can find old 1970s train cases on ebay, it looks like the only people making them new are Louis Vuitton and other companies with similarly overpriced offerings.

Does anyone know of a good, traditionally designed train case for hats, preferably in leather?

Thanks!

I found a nice piece of Square leather luggage at a resale shop. I took the pockets out and glued black foam to hold a modern Stetson hat box the put a strap in to snug it in a little. It makes a wonderful travel case for a spare hat and is only slightly larger than a real Stetson 100 case. I have seen several around town so I know they can be found, though haven't seen many nice ones. I would look around--who knows you might also fine a hat to go in it while looking.

What you need to search for is a Hat Can.
This is the term that the industry calls a hat case.

I bought one of these for a recent airplane trip but decided to just put the hat on my head and use the old hat-in-a-plastic bag-on-the-plane method. But it is well made and I'm sure I will put it to use in the future.

good boxes for hat storage?

Hi Gang. I was bitten by the hat bug about 2 years ago. Initially I was storing my hats on clothing trees. Now I find that I have hat trees. I bought a nice milan from VS and noticed that it came in a box that allows you to nestle the hat upside down. What is the best hat storage box available? Thanks, BillC
