You should see if you can find some other source for average hat size. I imagine some of the erudite members of this community would have some pointers.

When you have enough results, take the average hat size reported here, compare that to what you would expect, and then look up "reporting bias".

To get hat size, you just subtract three from shoe size. You could save yourself some unnecessary data gathering if you keep in mind that principle.

Strangely that almost works for me. My shoe size is about 10.5, and my hat size is 7 or 7 1/8.
